Re: Goodbye TR, it was a great run

Maybe it was the plan all along to just run it into the ground. I can't believe they'd put any resources into the site (they barely did, but still), it's hard to believe they'd do ANYTHING except just let it die. I really just don't get what they thought was going to happen with the changes they mad...

Re: Goodbye TR, it was a great run

well this thread turned to **** I didn't really expect to "leave" TR when all the changes were happening. I was definitely trying to be helpful here in the forums. Having said that, this is the first time I've visited for more than a few seconds in at least a month. Makes me very sad. I wo...

Re: TR Redesign: bugs - features - tips

@ DancinJack I was moreso envisioning a continually updated list (as things are addressed), and prioritized (roughly). This would, of course, be quite a bit of work for the OP. I'm happy to at least keep the list updated with new issues, but I definitely won't know all the fixes that go into place ...

Re: Something's different...

What happened to the ads? Is TR dead? How are y'all going to keep cash coming in if I never see an ad? I'm serious here. Is the site so cheap that it doesn't matter? Suggestions on design: there needs to be more filters or ways to find the content that matters. IE reviews of certain cpus or graphic...

Re: Something's different...

hey fish (or a mod) would someone mind linking the "on topic" bug/feature thread in the first post? Since we don't have the active topics list it probably doesn't show up for a low of people very visibly.

At least as a temporary stop-gap until the Hot threads summary is implemented, could links to "New Posts" and "Active Topics" be added as a drop down to the "Forums" link on the front page?

Re: Something's different...

I move that we break off Fish's original post here, and create a new official thread dedicated to constructively discussing and prioritizing the suggestion list, and then float it at the top. No venting, just organizing the list. That'll give the new owners a place to quickly and easily get input f...

TR Redesign: bugs - features - tips

Please stay on topic and try to only post bugs/features/tips/tricks/etc in here for the redesign. Off topic discussion will very likely continue here: https://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=122158 Quoting fish's list from old thread for completion. Hang tight folks. Edit: Obviously th...

Re: Something's different...

No offense taken. That doesn't change what my editorial preference is. I've done journalism club back in High School. Editorial discretion is a key feature of a writer. The editor has the final say, but the individual author has the first say in what is, and isn't published. Renee's preference is c...

Re: Something's different...

No offense, but that's such horse crap. TR has been posting "rumors" for YEARS.

It's like people just want to find **** to be pissed about. Maybe think before we all talk and things will go a lot smoother.

I don't really get why some people just insist on being pissed off all the time. The article was fine? It wasn't the usual nerdspeak editorial style of TR, but it was completely fine. I haven't even rea the comments yet, but people, you have got to chill out and just go about your thing. I would hat...

The login prompt on the forums is busted on Chrome mobile. If you try to enter a username or password the prompt goes away like you're tapping behind it. Since the redesign, I've switched my home page to the forums so that I get taken here directly, bypassing that horrible front page. Re: Something's different...

If anyone here using an ad blocker doesn't white list TR, then, well you can just peace out. The ads here are incredibly innocuous. I think there was once or twice over the past decade a video ad got pushed to the site, and it was on accident, and it was removed ASAP. Most, if not all, of the analyt...

Mannnnnnnnnnn I hope they just update the phpBB for the forums and don't muck around too much. The 3.2 branch is easier to update for subsequent updates, and has a ton of cool features. Can someone expound on where Bruno is right now in all this mess? I'm not criticizing him for not being around or anything, but he was the main dev on the "old" site as far as I know, and I sure to heck hope they didn't just kick him to the curb.

Re: Something's different...

There's also a bit of selfishness involved, I want TR to succeed because I frankly don't want to read CPU and GPU reviews from anyone else. Now that Zak's got a handle on using the TR-specific tools that Bruno made, we're setup to produce the content we all want to see as long as it can be funded. ...
