Re: Coffee Lake 6 core, this August with z370 chipsets?

What a typical post. "Your use case differs from mine, you're doing it wrong" Groan. For a start Chrome is vastly superior to Firefox with performance over 150 tabs, night and day difference (breaks my heart, I really don't like Chrome) I do lots of research - a heavy day is 300, I normal...

Re: 1080Ti roundups

I get it man, I do. I suspect, since these cards are just trickling out, you'll have to wait a while if you want a round-up. A few of the criteria you are looking for though can definitely be taken care of just checking the specs (ports/size). While you obviously can't tell default fan curve without...

...using a browser with 100 to 300 tabs open... I can say that a 4960k at 3.8ghz was not fast enough, I'd like a 6 core intel @ 4.5ghz and with HT to boot. Also I feel like I need 3200 or even faster ram. By god do I want a responsive machine. (yes, I have an SSD) You're doing it wrong. Stop freaki...

Re: 1080Ti roundups

Wait a second, are you pairing this with your 1920x1200 monitor(s)?

Chances are you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference, in practice, between MOST of these cards. I'd get whatever has good clocks, good brand, and the best (for me) warranty.

Re: Coffee Lake 6 core, this August with z370 chipsets?

I think Ryzen is an outdated design model to not include an IGP at all, but at least it seems to have made Intel shift some focus away from that area. Let's face it, Intel IGP has been more than adequate for non-dGPU machines since.....Ivy Bridge? We don't need half the die area dedicated to IGP, g...

Yeah, because Windows or Linux, or ANY other software you use have no security flaws? Surely not everything you use is absolutely necessary. Come on Waco. I have zero issue with Nvidia knowing which games I have installed. I want them to benefit. They make great products. Everybody wants something f...

Re: Nvidia Geforce Experience Security Vulnerability

I mean, I understand, if only a little bit, why people wouldn't want to install an extra piece of software just to get the driver updates earlier than others, but it's really not a big deal in this case IMO. Geforce experience is never, never in my way. It doesn't hog resources. I rarely even have i...

I read it, but I'm not sure what surprises you're talking about. Unless MAYBE you're referring to the binning, but that's also something you could come to the conclusion of just by reading all different articles and seeing results were nearly identical across the board (as for as OC'ing goes). Anywa...

Re: Ryzen 5 - Your Choice?

I'm really interested in seeing the 4C8T Ryzen with only one CCX results. Some people are point to the Infinity Fabric as the culprit of some of the woes. It also should be able to OC much higher than the 8C16T part, too. It might be the go to CPU for gaming the these theories pan out. No, it shoul...

Re: Ryzen 5 - Your Choice?

The i5 during Sandybridge was the best gaming chip. The i5 outperformed the i7 thanks to the HT performing terrible in gaming titles. Games also weren't taking advantage of much more than 2 cores back then, plus whatever background programs you were running. The same thing can be said about the i7....

Recursion was the first concept in my C++ class as a freshman in college that really got me thinking. It was kinda tough at the time, and is still tough in some cases, but pretty cool and useful too. So how many times did you type something like this Ben? (not C++ btw) public int bensFactorial (int ...

Kansas rocked Purdue hard. They appear to be peaking at the right time. They've had some lousy games earlier in the year, but are showing their #1 ranking as of late. And as a Cyclone, you're welcome Kansas for showing how to beat Purdue. Wish we could have figured it out in the first half, rather ...

Re: New Build!!

You need to get DDR4 for Kaby Lake btw. 1600MHz is too slow to get the best out of that 7600K. Get something along the lines of 3000MHz. You'd really need new RAM not due to the speed of the old stuff, but due to the fact that none of these motherboards are DDR3 compatible. You would want to as wel...

Re: 1080Ti: Founders Edition or Wait?

The 1070Ti was also released at a higher MSRP than $980Ti/2, so we haven't arrived, yet. Will next year's GPUs match a 980Ti for $325? Probably, but Pascal was a quantum leap forward that may be difficult to replicate. I'm comfortable with frontloading my investment to run at 3440x1440. :) You mean...

Re: 1080Ti: Founders Edition or Wait?

The GTX 1080Ti step up would be $320 + tax + shipping, which is not bad at all for an upgrade (pay 84% more than a GTX 1070 for ~60-75% more performance). I'd likely have to wait a few years to get GTX 1080Ti performance for that $320, so why not step up now and get the faster performance years ear...

It's 64GB. It was literally the first link when I googled this. 6950X will get you 128.

Re: Is Linux getting easier to use then Windows?

"installing" Linux was never as easy as Windows until recently. Back in the early '00's there was always something jacked up. Wifi and sound were consistently issues on a lot of distros. Your anecdotal evidence doesn't convince me that Linux was easier to install in 1998. No way.

Re: computerbase.de Revisits Ryzen Gaming Performance

I was really hoping that r5 would be a single ccx not two 1/2 ccx's (2x2) put together. This was why I was saying that I expect r5's to clock better than 3x3 or 4x4. I guess we will just have to wait and see what actually ships. Pricing is right about where it should be though. Even if they did hav...

Re: computerbase.de Revisits Ryzen Gaming Performance

I honestly do not get why people don't understand this. Maybe a lack of understanding or knowledge I suppose, but it's time to listen. It's not your motherboard, it's not your power supply, it's not some microcode issue. Ryzen on that GF process is just not going to OC well no matter how many cores ...
