Re: 1Password - Free Gift

Not to mention you need WINE (or similar) to run it on Linux? It has native Linux versions available from any major repository. Well hey this is definitely an instance in which I am happy to admit I'm wrong. The article I read about that particular "feature" said otherwise. I admit I don'...

Re: 1Password - Free Gift

I've looked at it. Mobile/sync on KeePass is....mediocre at best. Not to mention you need WINE (or similar) to run it on Linux? Sometimes "it just works" is worth it. Oh btw 1Password can store your vault locally just FYI.

1Password - Free Gift

If anyone is a 1password user around here, I'd be quite appreciative if I could snag that free copy (assuming of course you're not giving it to someone in the family or friend in need)!

Re: NFL 2018

I'm not sure comparing a past QBR from different seasons to this years is very accurate?

But if we really want to, Sanchez has an all-time high QBR (for the season) of 55.3.

Re: NFL 2018

I don't dispute any of your points, but Washington could WIN the East with an actual QB. McCoy and Sanchez are just gonna throw (literally and figuratively) the season away.

Anyway, I just think it's all such BS. Kaep is better than at least half the QBs starting in the league right now.

I mean, I don't care how anyone feels about Kaepernick at this point. The fact that Sanchez just got a contract and Kaep didn't is insane.

Re: Hot to determine shutter count

Why do people care about shutter count? Is there something that wears out fast enough to be a concern? I'm genuinely curious here, as I don't know much about DSLRs. It very much depends on the tier of dSLR you have, and how many photos you take. For pros? Yeah, it matters quite a bit. For instance,...

Re: Hot to determine shutter count

I am a newbie to DSL. I got the D850 about 6 months or so ago and have hardly used it. I never reset or change file numbering scheme. The camera comes with dual memory slots and the one of them serves as a backup(or it was set this way). I do not remember if I ever changed the primary memory card. ...

Re: NFL 2018

I've always felt that offensive & defensive coordinators were the most important coaching positions. Of course they're chosen by the head coach to match his philosophy, but ultimately they set the schemes, create and draw up all the plays, and then do the playcalling. Of course there's input fr...

I'm confused about what you did. Did you manually copy the files over, delete the originals, then create the link? Or you created the link, but new files are showing up in the old location? Or something else? This post may be helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/netflix/comments/8i40ek/how_to_change_t...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Well i got a mountain bike because i don't think i'll always have good pavement available, and i've had a decent amount of missed chances to ride some dirt trails so i might take advantage of that too. Yeah, that's why I got a (technically) cyclocross bike. A tiny bit wider tires than legit road bi...

Re: Modern Macbooks...really worth it?

Are MacBooks really worth it? If you want macOS, get a new MacBook Air and spec it correctly. Windows or Linux? While I would recommend a Thinkpad, there are plenty of very good choices out there. Honestly I don't know why people think the Air is a good choice these days. The new Air has Y series c...

I'm getting a folding bike for the truck. Right now my walking range is about 2 miles one way to get places on the weekend. Re: Hot to determine shutter count

There are A LOT of ways that file numbering won't match up with shutter/actuation count. File numbering can be manually reset on the camera, inserting a different SD(etc) card with a similar numbering scheme can confuse it, the camera can reset/change the numbering scheme depending on certain events...

Re: Modern Macbooks...really worth it?

Hold up a moment. So you're saying the battery can not be replaced without tripping off the T2 chip? If this is true, WTF Apple. This is like what the diesel manufactures are doing now days and programming the injectors into the ECU. So if an injector fails, you can't just replace it. The new injec...

OK duders. I don't mean to be pedantic, but can you please not say Macbook when you mean Macbook Pro (or Macbook Air for that matter)? They are two very distinct things. Of course there is usually context to discern which you're talking about, but not always and at times even then the two share some...

Re: NFL 2018

The home team in these overseas matchups are required by the NFL to keep their stadium available (eg no booking concerts etc on the date) precisely for contingencies like this. It's never really a neutral site game; it's a home game played elsewhere (the home team has one less game played in their ...

Re: Modern Macbooks...really worth it?

I only linked a Windows laptop because there's no equivalently spec'd Apple alternative for anywhere near that cost. The point is, a laptop with those specs can be made for that price, regardless of which OS is installed on it. It's not my fault that Apple chooses to ignore the market segment I'm i...

Sorry I just don't have a lot to contribute here since I don't have experience with MBPs and I don't want to persuade anyone into Apple/Windows, but I'm flabbergasted by how much people pay for a laptop. I wasn't commenting on WHY they moved it in the first place. I could care less about that part. The second part though, about it being a home game for LAR, makes more sense now. I don't know where the "neutral" site would be, but I'm sure they could fill it up for the most part. Hell, do i...

Re: Modern Macbooks...really worth it?

It is worth it if you get the newest MacBook Air. Simply put, Apple has decreed that everything shall be TB with USB3 connectors. That means dongles for just about everything else. That may not necessarily be a bad thing if you get the right dongles and keep it with you. Spec out the best MacBook A...

Re: Modern Macbooks...really worth it?

Unless Apple is willing to reverse the decisions they're making, buying an older machine is just prolonging the inevitable. Is that worth buying a 3-year-old machine for? The 2015 MBP may be repairable by 3rd party repair shops, but these shops are being forced out of business by Apple right now. I...

...except for Ethernet. If you want wired network connectivity you need either a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter, or a USB NIC. For when I'm at my desk, I have a combo USB 3.0 hub/NIC... external keyboard, mouse, and wired network stay plugged into it, so I can "dock" the MBP by plugging ...
