Re: Windows 10 Fall Update Build 1709

Just need to find a way to either get the download arrows on my Start menu to actually start downloading the apps they're supposed to be (they got stuck for some reason), or for me to manually install them (I could always clean install FCU on my laptop and see what they're supposed to be and then m...

Re: Low-Profile RX550 ($77.98 USD) Free Shipping!

Not bad. How do they compare to NVidia's 1030? Have I mentioned TR should do a big low-end card roundup? I think they trade blows pretty well when it comes to games, but the 1030 is a 30W card and the RX 550 is a 50W card. This is one instance where power might matter to some people IMO. Bot...

They just will not get me to use Edge. I am a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnngtime Chrome user, even in the early early early days when it was brand new, and the newer Firefox version with Quantum (i'm using the dev edition) is pretty damn good. Edge just can't measure up to those two. Otherwise, Windows updates f...

Yeah, looks like you're all set there. I, personally, might have gone with another brand but a 1030 looks good for this use case.

Conceivable but not likely. Some group might some day put SOMETHING together, but I wouldn't be holding your breath.

The hardware in the 950 XL is more or less the same as a Nexus 6P as far as the main components go.

Re: Windows 10 Mobile officially dead

Just because MS said it was "available from ATT" doesn't mean you couldn't buy it and use it on another network. And sure, I get what you're saying about a lot of the other devices, but just because they didn't work on Verizon doesn't mean they were carrier exclusives either. Chances are i...

Re: Windows 10 Mobile officially dead

I'm sorry The Egg, but I just don't believe that and I don't think many other people do either. They just came into the game after Apple and Android had already been established and couldn't get devs or consumers to jump over. It wasn't about halo devices being available on all four carriers constan...

Re: Windows 10 Mobile officially dead

Nah. Windows phone is dead. D.E.A.D.

Microsoft literally tried paying devs, writing their apps for them, and publishing them. They still couldn't get people interested. I don't think a new halo device with the exact same strategy they've been trying the past six or seven years will work.

Re: Ideal Nvidia card to drive a 1440p 60Hz display?

Nvidia is not developing a whole product to "cash in on the crypto-currency craze." Sorry, that's not what's happening. It's the same way GPUs have been moving for the past decade. More general compute. There have been bigger leaps in some generations than others, but general compute has g...

Re: Microsleep detection?

I HIGHLY doubt it. Not unless it's in a hospital or lab with super expensive equipment (which in that case isn't likely "wearable"). Are you worried about it or something? Seems like an odd metric to be desirable in a wearable, but what do I know. FWIW I thought this thread about about CPU...

Re: Your Personal Smart Phone Evolution

I had to leave my HTC fetish behind when I switched carriers up here - went from Telus to WindMobile (now FreedomMobile). They use different everything so none of my older phones worked on their system.....now they're the only ones that use the LTE66 waves....which means I don't get LTE service unl...

Re: Smartphones with removeable battery?

I don't suppose anyone has experience with the Huawei Honor 6x? Technically the battery isn't removable, but you can do it without any glue melting or soldering, so basically no more difficult than laptop repair. The performance looks pretty comparable to the G5/G5 Plus but it's cheaper and has 3GB...

Re: Your Personal Smart Phone Evolution

HTC still has a Desire model at VZW. There are a few here and there, but nothing like HTC used to stock at Verizon. Having said that, Verizon needs to hurry the **** up and get rid of their CDMA network. It'll take a few more years expanding low frequency LTE (so you can get calls inside buildings a...

So far we know of USC, Miami, Louisville, Arizona, OK State, and Auburn. I honestly think it's just who unluckily ended up with jerks on their coaching staff that were willing to skirt the rules all along. There isn't much of a geographical correlation there beyond most of them being in the souther...

40-45K enrollment is a "smaller, Midwest school" to you? (Wisconsin-Madison) I'm pretty sure the "smallest" school in the Big Ten is Northwestern, at roughly 20-22K on their main campus. That's big. I don't doubt that Big Ten schools may come out of this cleaner than some other s...

Big Ten won't be the dominant conference once this is over. Sorry. Yes, some big teams won't come out of this cleanly, but the ACC and B12 are still tops and have been for quite a while. Until Indiana and OSU return to their former glory the Big Ten is going to continue to be fighting for second, th...

Very much agreed. Can't wait for Pitino to wear his white suit into the courtroom and cry when found guilty (of whatever). Honestly it's hard to believe Calapari hasn't been in MORE trouble yet.
