BL:TPS is mediocre with the vanilla content and good with the Claptrap DLC missions.

+1

BL: 2 with all the DLC was so amazing it was hard to follow.

It made me crave Chipotle, which I succumbed to. However they had no lettuce which made the burrito a little soggy.

It did however prevent you from possibly getting E. Coli, so there's that!

Re: Xbox One X

This. I don't even think it needs to be 120FPS. Even back in the CRT days, there was a threshold at around 85Hz beyond which anything else was pointless. I remember Q3A (running at 125fps for the pmove_fixed console command) and my monitor could do 1280x960@72Hz, 1024x768@85Hz, and 640x480@120Hz. 7...

Re: Xbox One X

Some people like what they like. For instance, I think 1440p and max details is the sweet spot. I don't really care about 4K if I'm being honest (and I have both a PC that could do some games at 4K and a 4K TV capable). After that I want dem FPS and VRR. Games running 120FPS on an 120Hz screen is so...

Re: Xbox One X

Maybe. It's capable of it but I haven't seen any X1X games do checkerboarding, it's much more common on PS4P. This is definitely accurate, but the XB1X definitely uses some dynamic resolution wizardry to cope too. For instance, Witcher 3 has a "4K30" mode, which for the most part maintain...

Re: Xbox One X

Meh. This discussion is tiring. I like my Xbone and I like my PC. Like Glorious, I play with both a KB+M and a controller on the PC, and some games I just play on console. I think trying to compare the two, given all the differences with CPU, GPU, and integration/utilization (of those resources) is ...

Re: Xbox One X

I suppose I am not sure I can cite a specific instance, but I have definitely heard people say to me (and read online) that they prefer a console controller to a mouse and keyboard. Now, that may just be preference due to any number of reasons (likely foremost being familiarity), but I have definite...

Re: Xbox One X

LostCat definitely loves his/her X1X and maybe got a little enthusiastic with that comment, but that machine can definitely do its job.

I have to say as well, MS has done a not horrible job with the software on the Xbone/X1X too. It's so much better than it used to be.

Re: Xbox One X

Only thing I don't like is if you play shooters on it the controllers tend to wear out much quicker than a good mouse does :/ Also I don't care what anyone, literally ANYONE, says, a joystick (even on the wonderful (seriously) X1X/Xbone controller) isn't as accurate as a mouse/kb. :) Sidenote - I u...

Re: Xbox One X

I don't even understand why there is an argument. It's the same situation as original PS4 vs Xbone. The PS4 OG had a slightly better GPU, end of story. Now, the XboneX has the better GPU and gives better visuals. End of story. Haters always gonna hate, I guess.

Re: Clicky HDD. Any chance it's normal?

Hold up. HDDs during normal operation and normal environmental conditions should not be clicky. Full stop. I don't know how a sample size of TWO drives, manufactured within 30 days of each other that carry the same firmware are "enough to rule out a bad batch." That's some p weird logic. I...

TI-89 Titanium for college here (EE, started mid '00s). Was definitely worth it having to deal with complex numbers, converting in and out of phasors. If we weren't doing math on a calculator, the school provided (sold) the engineering laptops and software we needed for everything else. Matlab, Map...

Ti-92 for me. Yeah, I was that guy. And holy crap, there's one on ebay for $20. I shouldn't be surprised, but wow :o lol a TI-92. Honestly never saw one of those all through my college years (and that's A LOT of Math/Engineering/Physics classes). I was definitely an outlier with the 89. Almost ever...

I probably wouldn't have made it through a Physics degree without my TI-89 but that's a whole other story. And none of that "Titanium" business. The OG. (of course most people my age probably think the TI-83/Plus was "the OG") http://ti.zewaren.net/en/images/calc-ti89.gif?PHPSESS...

Definitely interesting, but yeah, the workload and nature of their code has quite a bit to do with it. Still cool.

Lately I've been considering using a VPN for no real reason other than it seems like a reasonable thing to do. After a little research I find that Netflix over a VPN may be problematic. That could be an issue. Off to Google I go for research that's a bit more targeted. Yeahhhhhh, Netflix used to wo...

Re: AV1 Video Codec

If the only downside to AV1 is longer encoding times I doubt Netflix, Amazon, et al really care too much about that, but a reduction in bandwidth could be a big deal. Codecs for streaming video have seen considerable churn in the last few years. If that continues then I'd expect it to start looking...

Re: AV1 Video Codec

AFAIK AV1 is about even to slightly better than HEVC at lower bitrates, HEVC taking the lead at higher bitrates. IMO the the problem mostly is AV1 is second to market, and HEVC already has a solid foothold in devices with dedicated decode/encode hardware. It's in GPUs, camcorders, set-top boxes, DV...
