Re: Anyone repair anything today?

I've also had pretty much nothing but problems with plumbers.. even those licensed (which are rare in my area). Unless it's a problem buried in a concrete-slab foundation (or under a crawl-space, which I don't have), I'll do it myself. Now electrical is something else.. messing with the circuit-brea...

Both are TSR, and it was more like Gamma World > Planescape > (A) D&D.

As an old fart who's played many different versions on D&D, 2.5ed was extremely fiddly with the rules, and high level characters were definitely gods.. 3rd (and 3.5) edition was mainstream for so long, and was extremely complicated and not really designed for mass market.. (great for nerds/geek...

Actually not sure on the sentencing guidelines now that I look it up. Section 2422(b) of Title 18 provides that if the individual who has been persuaded, induced, enticed, or coerced to engage in prostitution or other criminal sexual act is under the age of 18, then the penalty is 15 years imprison...

BALDUR'S GATE III

Ok, so some of us "old farts" have been waiting for this game for about 18 years now (after ToB was released) - though most of us had long thought it would never occur because of a question of just who held the legal rights to this game (..where even most lawyers representing interested pa...

Re: Looking for replacement for aging Z-5500 set

I find it hard to believe that combo speaker systems for PC, and from non-speaker companies (Logitech), can somehow end up both offering better quality and being cheaper. IF the Co. cherry-picks the fullrange driver and does a decent design with the enclosure + a powered upper-bass "sub" ...

Re: Radeon VII or wait for Navi?

I only game at 4K and it's definitely in the "competitive" bracket versus the 2080 there. It certainly gets a pretty great boost from *water-cooling as well as using less power under water. Also, would a typical purchaser want a VII for use with much less than 4k? Of course the other use-...

.. wait .. -well, unless you have some current imperative reason for more GPU. I'm expecting Navi to be a replacement to the 500 series, so maybe don't hold-your-hopes on it. I kind of wonder why you would need serious GPU performance for MacOS? IF it's content creation then by all means sna...

Re: Build For $1500?

Personally, I'd stick with the U2410s unless you're willing to spend a *lot* of money on a 30" Dell or NEC or roll the dice with one of those off brand Korean boy wonders. There aren't many 16:10 options out there, and most of it is of the same vintage as the U2410. I kinda am willing. I reall...

In truth, I've almost always spent a LOT on monitors as well. Started with a Frog Design NEC (CRT) monitor in the mid '90's.. progressed from there to an SGI 1600SW, and then onto a 42" LCD (1080P) monitor around 2005-6, and still use it today! :D (..so even though the 42" was only 2/3rds ...

Re: Build For $1500?

I like the suggestion of keeping two of my Dell 2410s. They've served me well so far. I'm a bit worried they are getting old and the new monitor might reveal that! :) They are heavy and power-hungry. I'd look for a primary/gaming monitor that had a physical height of around 25-26"s - about the...
