What is it that you really want to do? Set some priorities, and focus on them. Are you serious about the "learn how to do software development" angle, or not? There are people here willing to help you do that, but only if you are serious about it and have the self-control to keep yourself ...

You're focusing on minutiae again. Unless you're a AV connoisseur, or one of your priorities is impressing your AV connoisseur friends, this issue is lost in the noise.

I single-handedly rewrote Digital Research's entire runtime library for their Pascal compiler when I was still in college. In 8080 assembly language. Original library was mostly written in Pascal; the performance and memory footprint of DR's implementation sucked a**. That was a big problem in thos...

LostCat obviously knows that. He just thinks it's a stupid joke. It always has been. If anything the probable reason it even caught on was how many Intel graphics chipsets back then were incapable of running pretty much anything. I played a demo of that game when it was released on my Pentium D 930...

I didn't know that you could do ray tracing on a C64/C128/. I bet that was a lot of work setting all of that up. how did you "networked" them together? You can do anything - albeit at a certain scale and speed - with even a lowly 8-bit computer. Start with the basic building blocks. Write...

Surprisingly, Crysis doesn't require SSE2. I loaded it up on my PIII and it actually ran fine. Well, fine if you're OK with 21.3 fps at 800x600 with all details set to low. :P There were probably still enough non-SSE2 systems around when it was released that they didn't want to eliminate that poten...

If he's unfamiliar with Linux development tools he would need to learn those too. Unless cross-platform portability was designed in from ...

The university I attended was very focused on low-level coding and high concepts, which I really liked, but the most useful thing I ever learned is how to deal with floats. (Amazingly, computers can't really handle floats, and it's kind of smoke and mirrors.) It wasn't how a compiler works, AI work...

With 4K resolution it is very much go big or go home type of thing. Why did you even tried using a 28" monitor at 4K anyway? 43" looks to be the perfect size for 4K being used as a computer display. Remember, this was at work. 28" 4K was what they were giving people who wanted an ext...

Digital recording tends to record the individual instruments via individual mic sources and process out or mini...
