Re: Something's different...

Yeah, pricing for GPUs are just ridiculous right now. Crypto will eventually crash I guess, then there will be GPUs everywhere. But until then... TR Publishing tried to charge me for subscription again today, like clockwork same as last year. ****, no answer on any email, the phone numbers seems to...

Re: Something's different...

Man I miss TR right now. :( I'm in the market for a new power supply and probably a motherboard for Zen 3 and I just realized I don't know where to look for the information I used to get right here. :( Where are you guys going to get your info for hardware purchases these days, is there even any lik...

Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate the suggestions and I plans to update this thread after I get my new bins and get my cables reorganized.

Re: How do you store/organize your stash of extra cables?

I love the velcro tie idea, I'm ordering some of those right now.

Otherwise, I try to organize them by type as best I can - in separate drawers preferably. I'm looking at something like this, probably two of them.

That might work for the smaller cables but I have some HDMI and ethernet cable that might be a tough fit.

How do you store/organize your stash of extra cables?

I'm sure most of you are like me and you have a hard time throwing any cable away, whether it be for PC, AV, or various electronics. I have quite a bit of HDMI, DVI, various displayport, ethernet, and gobs of every type of USB cable that ever was, etc, etc. I've gone through my stash a few times and...

If this is an actual question - I like to read TechPowerUp. They are better than TechSpot and they have pretty knowledgeable people posting in forums and comments and they have the authors of some very famous software utilities.

Re: Something's different...

The BBQ was pretty revitalizing and a great source of perspective. It made for a perfectly timed reminder of why I personally do what I do around here. I still think there's a lot left to be desired, and the pace of community-centric improvements is contemptible. However, TR is a strange beast, and...

Being diagnosed with a condition doesn't automatically make you an expert on said condition. You may have initially had some bad experiences, but I still doubt anyone here has the education or qualifications to say "all the doctors are wrong" about anything, regardless if they or their &q...

you know what to do Yeah. See a doctor and ignore the credulous fool on some random Internet forum. I’m going to jump in here for (hopefully) a half second. Also, I’m not defending or agreeing with a diabetes diet that begins with eating a bunch of rice. However, from personal experience with sever...

Re: Kempner Rice Diet

Type 2 IS almost always reversible. The OP is correct that diet is the answer, not meds. Most of the meds for diabetes make the problem worse in the long run. Again, if someone knew exactly what the balance was between diet and genetic predisposition, and they did have a "cure" for Diabet...

Showing Internet Explorer on the back of the box, that must be Windows 95b then, I believe. IE came with the Windows 95 plus pack originally.

Assuming you had adequate RAM I seem to remember that Windows 95 ran just fine on later 486 processors like the DX2-80/DX4-100/DX4-120.

Re: Frametime 8gb vs 16gb ram benchmarks?

When it comes to RAM, why buy 16 GB now if you don't think you'll need it? A lot of motherboards have 4 DIMM slots, so just buy 8 GB now and get 8 GB more in the future if needed. I'm gonna take an entry level MB; so only 2 DIMM slots, so if I want to upgrade I'd be in a bad spot. Unless I used onl...

Thanks to Newegg and smart saver shipping (Fedex Surepost) I won't have to worry about cloning until next Friday. A whole week to go from the LA area to the Seattle area.

Thank you guys for your input though. Much appreciated.

Disk Cloning software recommendation

I just bought a 1 TB NVME SSD and I will need to close the existing 512GB NVME SSD to it. So I'm looking for a recommendation for free or inexpensive cloning software.

Stuff you've used personally only please.

Re: Easy overclocking guide or instructions for 8086K?

From the conclusion page of the Anandtech article: The flip side of that however is that – as Ryan and I have been debating internally – is whether this is a processor even meant for stock usage. Intel’s binning process means that for one core to be able to run at 5.0 GHz at a reasonable voltage, al...

* EDIT: Oof. The anandtech article DPete linked above showed that when they bumped all-core boost up to 5.0 GHz, power consumption jumped from 115W (stock) to 175W. Eeps. At 5 GHz all core the power was 152W, wasn't it? One of us is reading it wrong and it could be me. :) 152W was with user-tuned v...

Re: Easy overclocking guide or instructions for 8086K?

I wouldn't expect to get 5GHz an all 6 cores at stock voltage. Thanks for all that info, DPete27. I'm not expecting to get 5 GHz on all cores without a bump in voltage. I'd like to take a realistic approach to that extra voltage if I can figure where best to start or how to proceed if I get instabi...

I followed Der8aur's Youtube guide to get my 8700K to 4.9 all cores. Re: Easy overclocking guide or instructions for 8086K?

If you just want to run the single-core max turbo on all cores simultaneously, there's often a one-switch option in the bios, on your motherboard it seems to be called "enhanced multi-core performance". Give that a try (and make sure your temperatures are still in check, but I doubt that ...

Easy overclocking guide or instructions for 8086K?

Hello TR, I have a 8086K on a GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 motherboard with a Corsair H80i V2 cooler and what I would like to do is overclock the processor to 5 GHz on all cores. From the little research I have done this doesn't seem like a lot to ask of this particular processor as long as you have...

I'm leaning 1080 TI and I'm leaning towards waiting for the 20X0 series reviews unless I find a deal on a new or used 1080 Ti that I can't refuse.

Anyone here looking to sell?
