Re: Can't boot from Win7 DVD after P8Z68-V upgrade

With modern hardware (anything post Core 2 Duo was my bottomline, and it can go back further), I just make a bootable USB disk and use that to install Win7 these days. Before I used a spare stick but eventually I bought a 4GiB one on sale just for that purpose. Yep :) fast USB + fast PC = OS instal...

Going 2gb isnt going to be some big direct improvement but in certain cases (like Dragon age 2 with high ress texture pack) it can be big deal.

Re: Why do i get raped if i have my own phone?

Hum ... if you have a long term contract then why the hell would u need to lock the phone? In my country (Lithuania, East EU) Carriers no longer bother with that. Got my galaxy S but since I migrated carriers and wanted to use my old number I had to wait about a week. No problem - used old cariers s...

Re: Sandybridge build

As for 2500K vs 2600K in gaming sence it's not worth it (if you did some pshop, CAD?, encoding, Sci computations) then Hyper threading would be nice but for gaming 4 cores + unlocked multiplier is all you will need in the forseeable future

Re: Sandybridge build

Hi, Been running an 2500k since last friday on a P8P67 and loving it. Since ram OC independantly from CPU you can go for whatever your wallet allows you. I personally got a corsair 4gb 1600mhz 1.65V kit very cheaply (east europe - prices vary). Just dont go overboard - RAM impact is limited. As for ...

Yes you can if those 2 new computers have legit Windows OS already installed. If you're old PCs have Retail licenses you can reinstall XP on new PC's and upgrade away. If old licenses are OEM then no since you cant use them on new pcs. Thats the legal language - ofcourse noone is stoping u from doin...

Re: Graphics card fan damage?

Hi, I work in a distributors RMA department and we lots of such cases both big n small fans get melted off. An asus HD4850 with a 80mm fan stiking out about 3cm out of its assembly (melted out) is on my collegues desk just as I write. Such cases are usually covered under warranty, but I guess the ca...

Re: Connecting Xbox 360 to LCD Monitor and Stereo

Hi, Since HDMI carries digital only signals there is no such thing as hdmi to RCA cable. Check if your monitor has an audio output (but mostlikely not .. my experience that only more expensive with hdmi port and/or with TV tuner monitors have suich a thing) The offcial solution is to get a xbox 360 ...

Well Vista (and even more so W7) have better multicore CPU support and thread schedueler than XP, so the gains probably stem from there.

Re: Memory no good for MB/Processor?

Sending higher voltage to the ram can't kill the cpu, but it can ruin the ram. The i5 has the memory controller on chip, so a high enough voltage can cause problems. Not sure if it will kill the CPU in a puff of blue smoke, but I don't think anyone wants to find out. The RAM voltage should be just ...

I think that even if it was a dead platter it should show as 2TB. Looks like a firmware problem of some sort to me. But it DOES show 2 tb - "and 839GB used without anything on the drive." My guess after formating the dead platters where marked as bad sectors and there's your half of disks...

Why use sqrews - shop around - Nexus usually ships their fans with ruber mounting 'bolts('.. whatever the propper name) although they are black .. also I think I had Antec fan with trasclusent ruber mounts (but they didnt last long rubber became hard - black nexus ones are much more durable). Video memory as size, is a simmple factor of YES you have enough (everthing that the gpu need fit into it) and NO you don't (Some extra stuff is stored in Main system ram that most likely take 'forever' to reach) Video card speed doesnt scale from incresing memory size (theoreticaly - Very theoretic...

Why gigabyte is hands down the best ... especialy since its am2+? IMHO it a matter of opinion. its more likely monitor problem. You are probably using VGA, switch to DVI (if you can) this should fix all the rez nonsence.
alternatively you can try setting the resolution adn then turning off and on the monitor.

What you are experiencing is DEFINETLY NOT normal Either the heatsink is not attached right (probalby too much paste) or to high a voltage At standart clocks and standart voltages with a standart coller cpu should run fine at 100% indefinetly.
