Re: Network Printer Issue

A few possibilities: My knee jerk reaction is to run a sniffer trace (wireshark). If you don't have networking equipment that can mirror the port put the printer on a hub and your laptop on a hub and run the trace and see where the jobs are coming from. From there it's a matter of tracking down the ...

Re: Ubiquiti experiences?

Ubiquity wifi is dirt cheap access. Don't expect a lot of features or redundancy out of it. I see it a lot at places that give out free wifi access, airports especially. For enterprise access where you need to support throughput, qos, roaming, or anything else I would look at something else. I've he...

Re: dymt reloaded

Any recommendations for breweries around Madison, WI? I'll be there in a few weeks, and will be newly of legal drinking age, so breweries hold a certain attraction. New Glarus if you can get to it is the premier microbrewery for the state. Otherwise my choices in order would be: Karbon 4 Ale Asylum...

Midwest Supplies site hacked (Homebrewing)

I know there's a few homebrewers on here so I thought I'd put the word out to keep an eye on your credit cards if you used Midwest Supplies in the past.

Re: USB Wifi

What are you going to be doing with it? If you're just using it for internet access what kind of bandwidth do you have coming to your flat? Having a high falootin' wi-fi card is great for sharing files locally but if you're connecting up to a 10 mb internet connection it really isn't needed. I would...

My youngest daughter joined the local Roller Derby league that recently formed in the western 'burbs of Chicago. I didn't even realize that Roller Derby was still around until she announced (on her 18th birthday) her intention to join... From my recollection of what you've posted here she's a gamer...

Re: World Of Warcraft

Whispers were directed to individual toons back when I played and had no tie into individual accounts or overall battle.net accounts. Not sure if that's changed or not. I had mods that would forward whispers from the multibox toon to the main toon I was playing. I would say, if they haven't changed ...

Re: Network Switch Life Expectancy?

I've had places pull out switches in full working order that are over 10 years old. Usually it isn't so much the life expectancy of the switch as the maintenance cost of support programs that get companies to switch. Many modern switch vendors offer a limited lifetime warranty on stackable type swit...

Almost have my kegerator done. Big enough to hold two five gallon kegs and one three gallon keg. Had to build a sleeve with two by fours to fit around it so I wouldn't have to drill holes for the taps through the actual freezer. Added some oak around the outside of that to make it look half way dece...

Runes of Magic

I couldn't find where anyone had started a thread on this so I thought I would. Runes of Magic is a free to play MMO that seems to clone WoW, I think they make money off microtransactions. I've been playing it for the last 2 days and it seems to have the same WoW addiction factor to me. The questing...

The yeast is only there for carbonation in sodas. Letting it work for longer will turn it into a beer (if you can call it that).

"Light" salad dressings are really bad for sodium too. Actually, a lot of the light stuff when compared to it's regular counterpart has quite a bit more sodium. Light (i.e. reduced fat) salad dressings also tend to contain more... sugar! (They take out the fat, so they add salt and sugar ...
