Re: Mobile Computing Identity Crisis!

2. Why can't Apple provide a more affordable alternative for people that don't want to go whole-hog on the Pro? Why not an acrylic-case 14 inch display? Price it starting at $1400 and include a mid-range graphics card. I would have jumped on that if it had existed. Instead I "settled" for...

Re: Mobile Computing Identity Crisis!

A note on the hibernate thing: I think it is a configurable parameter to have Windows go to hibernate instead of suspend when the lid closes. On the Mac you get the best of both worlds: Quick resume from sleep if it can, otherwise it restores from HDD. Pretty slick. Don't mistake my tone here. I jus...

Mobile Computing Identity Crisis!

Before we begin: What follows is my two year epiphany concerning mobile computing. I tend to be a bit wordy. This is not a fan boy piece. For non-mobile computing I have a desktop PC at work (XP-64) and a desktop PC at home (Vista-64). I run multiple monitors in both places, and life is good. I am g...

Re: A little advice for an old friend?

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered it. After some extensive research, it seems that this machine is one of 4 or 5 that match my criteria. The only other one I found appealing was this model from ZT systems. I have never heard of them before. Newegg is out of stock , and I see no other reliable onlin...

A little advice for an old friend? Now with Pics!

Some of you may recall me from my moderator/admin days a few years ago. Since i decided to ride off into the sunset I have mostly lurked, but now i find myself in need of a bit of guidance. I'm looking for a decent personal use multimedia capable laptop. Screen size is to be no bigger than 15.4 and ...

Imp. SnD doesn't help with combo point generation but it does keep you from having to waste combos on SnD as frequently. I currently have Adrenaline Rush and love it for the "Oh crap I just pulled 4 monsters" moments but being a 6 minute cooldown I find I don't use it as often as I would like. As fa...

Anyone here on Drak'Thul? I started playing in January and my undead rogue finally hit 60 the other day.

As for someone looking for an updated opinion of the game:

Still laced with crack. Its bad. I can't quit. Help.

Re: New motherboard smell

Hey, does anyone else suffer from this problem? Whenever I open a new motherboard, it has an unmistakable smell, I call it "New Motherboard Smell." I'll sit there and sniff the new board, because it smells good! Has anyone else ever done this? Or am I insane, and should stop sniffing electronics fo...

I was waiting for this move from AMD before jumping back onto the AMD bandwagon. Intel's HT has been the darling feature that kept me on with Intel for the past year. That, and Intel's video encoding performance is astounding. I do a lot of DVD backups for my kid's stuff considering how they don't e...

I agree with Forge. Most DVD burners are now at the point where they offer the same features, quality and compatibility. The only drive I would bother paying more money for is a Plextor. If anyone here needs an explanation as to why that is they need to read up on Plextor's history of quality optica...

If you wanted to compare the two series by their milestone movies then I would say for the original series it was The Wrath of Khan. For the next generation it was First Contact.

Changed the thread title to be a little more "family" friendly. Don't you remember the thread that shows it only takes the first and last letter of a word being in the correct place for us to be able to read it? ;) Seriously though, posting the article is fine. But don't put it in the subject line. :)

Off-topic threads belong in the Back Porch. This forum basically has no topic based rules. Other forums are topic-specific and therefore subject to much more strict rules on topic deviation.

In other words if you want to talk about a whole lotta nuttin, do it in the Back Porch.

Re: Novel new cooling idea

I've got a PC that is running hot. Gonna put a couple of fans in it, but I don't have them yet. This thing is folding, so I want to keep it running. Thus, my idea of cooling with the Uber-Fan (tm). Now, if you have 4 sq feet of desk space you can keep your CPU cool like this too  . http://www...

Lao Tze, how much do you weigh? The reason I ask is becuase I think you are taking this waaaaaaay to seriously. I know you'll disagree with me, but once someone is dead, do you think they care what people say about them? They're dead! How could they. When I die, do you think I would care if the peo...
