Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

I was first exposed to South Korean cinema about ten years ago. There have been a lot of great films to come out of South Korea in the last 10-20 years. We've seen Park Chan-wook and Bong Joon-ho both make American English language movies, though neither has been totally successful with that (Snowpi...

Re: What are you drinking RIGHT NOW?

I'd eat more oatmeal if it didn't seem to irritate my bowels for some reason. I started eating oatmeal after being diagnosed with IBS. I find it's helpful in keeping me regular. I'm a little surprised to hear that others would have trouble with it. I make pressure-cooker oatmeal for my workday brea...

Re: Remember when.......(decade in review)

Also, ain't it crazy that only TWO of the MCU films are from the previous decade? Excepting Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk , EVERY single one of those films released between 2010 and 2019. That's all of the Thor and Captain America films in this decade, plus FOUR helpings of Avengers. Heck, Spide...

Re: Upgrade Path for Aging Processor

I'm almost done with The Outer Worlds, but I've seen some pretty tempting deals from MicroCenter. I'll keep watching during the Christmas season deals and maybe pull the trigger at some point. My friends have talked about going to Quakecon next year (have skipped it the last 5 years) and that would ...

Re: Upgrade Path for Aging Processor

If your BIOS support it, turning off a pair of cores (core 1 and core 4 if you have the choice, indexed from 0) and overclocking might help a bit in games without blowing up your VRMs or CPU temps. It's been 7 or 8 years since I last tried overclocking the thing, but I recall trying to disable 2 of...

Re: Upgrade Path for Aging Processor

One of the cheaper alternatives to consider would be to find an off-lease (used) business PC with a Core i5 and stick a gaming graphics card into it. I looked into this last night. The problem is that most of the machines I'm finding are either older than mine or too expensive to justify doing that.

Re: Upgrade Path for Aging Processor

Thanks for the response. I figured AM3+ was probably still somewhat relevant, since we are on AM4, but I guess there was an FM1 and FM2 socket in there as well. I'll probably just watch for a killer deal on a mobo/cpu combo. It's just too bad about The Outer Worlds, since it's a great game, but the ...

Upgrade Path for Aging Processor

I've started playing The Outer Worlds and my system can't quite handle it. I know what the problem is, the CPU minimum requirement is Phenom II X6 1100T, but I have a 1090T. My CPU is pretty old, but the truth is that it runs most things just fine. I kind of hate the idea of upgrading my CPU, mother...

I googled that Penzeys place and there's a store 10 minutes from my office. I might have to give it a try.

I've found that growing my own herbs has really made cooking certain dishes easier. It helps that many herbs grow like weeds too.

Re: Yahoo breaches settlement

I filed a claim. I actually had real losses from the breach. I had some eBay gift cards which had codes sent to my Yahoo e-mail. After the breach they had been used. Since the seller was reputable (eBay itself), the only explanation could be that it was related to the breach. My bigger loss was rela...

When I've been in the Caribbean there has always been more concrete than wood construction. These islands aren't covered with huge pine trees like the United States. Here in the mainland United States, we have a prejudice against concrete construction; we see it as "Soviet Style."

How often do you bake sourdough? I've been baking bread for the last few months (2-3 loaves per week) and I've wanted to start doing sourdough, but I find the process of growing the yeast to be a bit intimidating. Specifically, I'm concerned about having to maintain it once it's ready to use. Do you...

Bluebell is a household name in Texas. I'm from Michigan originally and wasn't familiar with the brand when I moved to Dallas, but it's huge here. I'm not sure if my wife (a native Texan) could name two other ice cream brands, she is completely insistent on Bluebell. It's a good product, but the thr...

Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

The mainstream media may be hostile to the company because they don't pay for advertising, which translates to the average Joe getting a distorted view of things, but the company gets by with word of mouth pretty effectively, when you drive it you get it, the product sells itself. It's funny that y...

Re: For movies on disc (yeah), do you ever register your "digital copy?"

Movies Anywhere is portable, not just in the sense that your movies can go anywhere on your device, but in the sense that the licenses are available on a number of different platforms. This is especially important when you have an older device like my iPad (Gen 3), that no longer supports the latest...

Four studios? I'm down to two: Larian and cd projekt. Nobody else makes an RPG that's nearly as good as these two companies, including Bethesda or bioware imo This one is apparently larger than dos2 and dos2 was huge. I hope the keep the humour and charm that their own worlds have. Bioware has defi...

It's definitely going to be a wait-and-see for me. I can imagine Christmas 2020 or 2021 picking this game up real cheap and gifting some copies to friends. I've learned with Borderlands games that you're really better off waiting for the DLC to bundled into some kind of GOTY edition.

It looks pretty bad to me and Sonic is probably 20 years past his prime, but at the same time it looks like the kind of movies that succeed in China. Remember that mediocre Warcraft movie that was a box office bomb? It did fairly well in China, well enough that a sequel may happen. Same story with t...

@TurtlePerson2, I don't understand why that's a big deal. If someone hasn't invested at least SOME number of hours in the MCU, why would they go see the longest installment to date? The PC World podcast was talking about consoles in their last episode. Pretty interesting how the launch price can drastically affect sales of the console over its entire life. PS3 for example was famously expensive at $100 to $200 over the Xbox 360 and despite being technically superior to its cou...

The relative failure of the XBone has been really great for me. I was able to pick one up for $200 during the great crypto-induced PC hardware pricing fiasco. Additionally, Microsoft has provided more value with them allowing EA Access on their platform unlike Sony. Since I joined the hardware gener...

I'm willing to wager it'll have more edits to make it fit within the new trilogy. Just how the edits with the special editions were mainly done to make the original trilogy fit more with the prequels. George Lucas wanted to retell the stories of the original movies to better fit with his new direct...
