I'll take Espolon tequila against almost any bottle for its ~$22 price, takes almost $100 bottles to get me off of it.

Re: BF3 beta

Yes there is Jets and Choppers. I remeber from reading a interview with a guy from DICE months ago. He said that BF3 will have large 64 man muti-player maps. That will have armor and air combat, jet's and heli's just like BF2 maps had. Also in article he said BF3 will have features from both BF2 an...

$700???

Jeebus, I'd buy a mozin-nagant, pay a smith to check the headspace, mount it on a modern composite stock, and still have $400 to spend on ammo, which buys a lot of 7.62x54R, then work on dialing in the iron sights at 250 yards...

Re: Windows 8 preview

Microsoft continues to prove how off base they are with respect to mobile computing. I'm sure this will be fine for desktops, as you can switch back to the more traditional windows UI. But why on earth did they think it was a good idea to build a tablet UI on top of a desktop version of windows? Ta...

This thread illustrates basically why you can't get what you want. Just like supplanting and replacing our entire government, the only way the changes you are asking for will come about is by either a) everyone immediately stop using their smartphones (iphone users, this means you) or b) everyone sw...

Re: Trying to get more fps with my cpu...

To be perfectly honest if your framerate is that low in WoW something is wrong, you have double the RAM I have but otherwise an identical system, I've done everything up to 25 man raids on cataclysm and I get 60fps+. The only difference is I'm overclocked to 4ghz. Cores don't mean nearly as much as ...

CPU-z is usually right, though if you left turbo mode on its free to clock it however it wants, turn turbo mode off and work up from a lower clock like 24x.

Re: Sandy Bridge at 19 x 12 and 25 x 16 Anyone?

Considering precious few games even use 4 threads to make a quadcore usefull, it will not provide a significant boost over your 840 at those clocks. Where it does shine is when you start pushing it past 4ghz. Then it starts edging out my E8400@4.5ghz in some of the games currently played (though mos...

Unless you have sata-6gb then go for the corsair top end drives.

And to the TB comment, I know, thats what 3TB greens in a RAID are for, and I need another already :/

But that is not increased performance, just increased pretty. Anti-aliasing never gave anyone a competitive edge. And how's that a bad thing? I have a GTX 460 because I like things fast *and* nice. If I just wanted fast I'd pick a lower-end card then drop the detail to minimum in games :) Sure but ...

Did you ever try updating the firmware? I had the diamondback and have the lachesis now, when I switched to win7 it had tracking errors and woukd switch off, until a firmware was released that fixed those errors with x64 tweaks and a matching driver update.

Re: GPU vs CPU+MB

Logic tells me to go through the GPU route, but I wonder how badly my Q6600 would bottleneck it. Actually since very few games use all 4 cores a stock clocked Q6600 is actually quite the bottle neck. Anything above a GTX260/Radeon 5xxx is a waste until you get your per core clock above 3ghz. If you...

16gb class 10 for HD quality video >2 hours, also better for the high speed sequence shooting the new cannon's can do.

Re: Readyboost

I would be interested in seeing some benchmarks with a USB3 flash drive since they are at or above transfer speeds of most 7200 drives. USB3 performance would not impact ready boost performance significantly, if thats what you meant. This is because ReadyBoost isn't large sustained reads, its used ...
