Re: Hankerin' to shoot something...

Okay I couldn't decide on any of the suggestions, so I went out and got Black Ops 2. I thought it would be fairly recognizable, given I've been playing earlier versions of the franchise. The gameplay is fine, minus the hackers, but now I remember how much I absolutely hate the multi-player lobby sys...

Hankerin' to shoot something...

So I've been taking a rest from the shooter genre and have been getting the itch to come back and would like some recommendations for a good multiplayer. I prefer something along the lines of MOH Allied Assault or the original Call of Duty mulitplayer where you can choose from a list of servers and ...

Re: Choosing a new monitor - Thoughts?

Well I use AutoCAD and Inventor (3-D modeling) for a living and can tell you from personal use that my Dell 2407WFP (PVA panel) is a good choice CAD work.

Here are a couple more sites to check out:

Re: Choosing a new monitor - Thoughts?

Have you seen this thread? I used it 6+ months ago when I was in the market for a new monitor and it proved rather useful. Also what is your main purpose (gaming, CAD, photo editing, etc.) for this monitor?

Re: New build for friend...C&C appreciated

I would have to suggest using a single GFX card, unless this friend is pushing a 30+" monitor or dual monitors. Also no mention was made as far as the monitor being used. The CPU does seem "extreme", but like you said, if he has $4K to spend than it's their money. You might be better ...

Re: Anyone familiar with the Hearts of Iron Franchise?

It might be worth picking up since the latest patch release fixed a lot of the game breakers. I've patched with the beta release, but it is official now. And Jacu I agree it's a blast to see if a minor like Hungary, Brazil, etc. can dominate the world.

Re: Chef's Knife

Yep a good paring knife and an 8" chef would probably be a good start and then add as you need to. Also don't forget the importance of decent shears, they can be used on a variety of task from opening plastic bags to filleting lobster tails.

Re: Chef's Knife

Not really keen to get a set yet as I don't really use many of the other knives, yet. Yeah I bought a 7 piece set because it was a great deal at the time, but truthfully I only use 3 of them, the paring knife, 8" chef and 10" chef in that order. It all depends on your cooking style. There...

Re: Chef's Knife

I would recommend a good japanese knife like these , but that's just my opinion. German knifes usually keep an edge longer and Japanese edges tend to be sharper. Although that is somewhat general statement considering knives can have a single or dual beveled edges depending on the brand/style. I pic...

Off topic: It would be nice to be able to drive a smaller more fuel efficient car but for many people it just isn't feasible without owning two cars. Re: Anyone familiar with the Hearts of Iron Franchise?

I purchased it on release and it's just like every other Paradox game. It will take a while to work out the bugs and such, fortunately it has a large, loyal modding community to extract the potential out of it. It is not playable past 1942-43 because of major slowdowns, so the answer to your questio...

I was looking at getting the Kata 3N1-10 or even the 20 for my new camera, have you had time to use yours? I'd appreciated a first hand account of the build quality, comfort and if the 10 was an adequate size for your needs?

Re: Anyone familiar with the Hearts of Iron Franchise?

Based upon the screenshots I would have figured that the CPU would be much more important than the GPU but all it specs for the CPU is a P4 2.4 or AMD 3500+...single core 0.o. It is DX9 or higher only but there are plenty of more apparently graphics-intense games that run fine in DX9 on lesser grap...

I have been playing since the original Hearts of Iron and yes it does have a rather steep learning curve. The depth of the game and the historical accuracy are the main factors that have kept me playing for 4+ years. Have you read the Development Diaries ? If not, it might give you a closer look at ...

Re: LCD TV or a new monitor? need perfect color reproduction

I read some of those reviews on the HP and it seems many of them are defective with pink hue from one end of the monitor? I will keep an eye out on the Dell since they have sales and coupons quite often, though I have had problems with them in the past. Once it dips under 400$ I might be snatching ...
