Re: Looking for a pair of new monitors

Headaches could also be from PWM backlighting. Lots of general info here. http://tftcentral.co.uk/ So basically look for an AHVA or IPS monitor, I think common size is 23.8" Try to confirm it's PWM free backlighting. See if it's 6bit+frc (ok) or true 8-bit, true 8-bit color is preferable. Dang...

Re: Looking for a pair of new monitors

Those 27" seem alright, I doubt my system could drive three of those, but it should be able to handle two. Is there any advantage of using something higher than a 60hz refresh?

No, game on center and other stuff on the left and right. I think the only one I would reasonably like to span across all 3 would be MechWarrior Online.

Looking for a pair of new monitors

Alright gerbils. I normally don't ask for advice since I can research myself but this time around I'm going to ask for assistance because I haven't kept up on display technologies much. I'm in the market for new monitors to round out my new build. I'm currently using a pair of Asus VS248H-P. They do...

Re: So, this new Star Wars movie

I thought it was a decent movie, some good comedy especially from that round orange droid. JJ Abrams definitely does fall back to his normal style that I saw in Star Trek (2009). I can't say I'm a big fan of Abrams, he's not much better than Michael Bay when it comes to good stories and he takes way...

Working great on Internet Explorer 11. Admittedly though the Lockerdome ads are obnoxious as hell.

Ask Bioware how well that worked out in The Old Republic.

Re: How Powerful are you expecting Ps4 and Xbox 720 to be?

From a cost and development pipeline standpoint you're going to see similar hardware in both systems. 4K resolution support is a no-go so don't even worry about it right now. That will come next generation. You're looking at specs within this frame. -Quad Core i3 class chip (Maybe i5 class but I wou...

Too bad you didn't have an image of the drive laying around anywhere, I'd be interested in tearing it down and looking at the bootstrap.

Re: physx card.

The point is that the overall gaming community has lost interest in PhysX. Developers aren't wasting money on it unless nVidia pays them. The answers you want in a review would be anecdotal at best as the actual empirical data for the specific numbers and effects would be sitting in an nVidia R&...

Re: Problems renaming drives in Windows

I thought the same of Ubuntu when it rose to the top of the stack and seemed to unite much of the Linux community behind a common banner. Still, it didn't last very long and the recent rise of Mint in the past year, an Ubuntu fork in itself, seems to have toppled what should have been the start of a...

I think both of us are assuming he's getting the "no drives detected, install disk/disk controller drivers" prompt. It's not clear, but I'm pretty sure that's the only prompt you get for drivers during Windows setup. Close, but not quite. Windows will ask for drivers anytime it identifies...

It's mostly the evangelists that seem to have lost touch. Sometimes I wonder if the evangelist faction of the Linux community might be Linux's own worst enemy... :-? It certainly doesn't help Linux gain any ground. The other side of that is the Ego problems within the Linux development community. C...

Re: new computer old hard drive windows 7

I doubt it is the disk that is the problem, Windows is likely recognizing the new motherboard features that weren't present on the old one and is asking for the appropriate drivers. He could probably just hit cancel on every prompt and Windows will load the microsoft defaults. This would let him loa...

Re: new computer old hard drive windows 7

The drivers refer to your motherboard specific stuff. Moving hard drives between different motherboard/cpu setups is not recommended, even if it is possible. You can either load the drivers into the system before moving it, or copy them to the disk c:\drivers would be easiest and then point the wind...

Honestly it isn't that big of a deal, ignore the remarks from the Linux crowd, they forgot how the real world operates some time ago. While it probably would have been easier to just force your Diablo 3 install into the B drive rather than remap it to E, whats done is done. I'm going to assume your ...

I might give your server a stab once you upgrade it to 1.4.2. I've been rocking the singleplayer lately because all the servers I hop on to have stuff built for miles and I wasn't really interested in walking for several days to find something new.

That's normal. The tech test is only up for about 8 hours on the days it is scheduled to be up. These hours are typically during peak timeslots where they can get the majority of players on and in game. Closed beta may bring about a more 'round the clock test schedule, but for now it's strictly sche...

One method is to actually overclock the card in the Radeon Catalyst Control Panel. This would prevent it from getting into "power save".
