Re: Remember when.......(decade in review)

Good story will always beat CGI. It will, and George Lucas used to think that as well. Having said that, - and this is going to be a tangent - the original Star Wars trilogy had some maddeningly difficult to pull off "CGI" (physical special effects, actually) the likes of which no one had...

Re: Remember when.......(decade in review)

I remember when several years ago Mr Wasson argued with me about the necessity and sense in benchmarking 1080p gaming, and now here we are, it's almost the year 2020, and the company he's moved to is still releasing brand new GPU designs "for 1080p gaming".

Ugh. So basically the exact same things everyone has been saying for almost 2 decades? I don't understand this site any more.

Hold out just a bit longer. As we all know from Paul Serene, the world will end in 2021.

This is a straight contradiction. You are asking people to believe that the concept of "8" does anything beyond being a concept.

Re: Food for thought: The number 8

Must really irk the techie types who only believe in well-crafted algorithms and researched-to-death natural phenomena. Irk me? Hardly. But what really intrigues me is how one (you, in this case) can be completely oblivious to one's own confirmation bias. You cling to the occasional odd case that s...

What about people born, or projects started or ended, in: 1961, 1970, 1979, 1988, 1997, 2006, 2015...? Years fall into Chinese Animal sign territory. Those are for the mentioned years, in order, Ox, Dog, Goat, Dragon, Ox, Dog and Goat. All of these tend to be hard working people. The 8 I am referri...

Don't ask me, man. I didn't make the rules! Months don't "exist", days don't "exist", and the number 33 certainly "does exist" in nature. Making stuff up doesn't make a "rule" any more real than taking placebo will alleviate pain. Ergo, it may feel that way t...

The fun's only beginning.

After Blizzard backtracked partway, they are now being firmly asked - by none other than actual senators - to reverse it all the way.

Nothing that's 10 years old is usable today unless all you do is browse the internet. I remember what my PC was like 10 years ago. I mean, even my PC from just 8 years ago would be unusable today, and a few of the games wouldn't even start up due to not meeting the bare minimum requirements. Edit: T...

The second one was written by someone significantly older, judging by the picture.

I simply must trust the more experienced entrepreneur on this one. What a shame. Even the opinions of the new TR owner are wrong.

To be honest, TR hasn't influenced a tech purchase for me for years. Most of the stuff reviewed was out of the price range of what am willing to pay for. Most of the hardware reviewed on the bleeding edge has far more capability than I would ever use. Similar sentiments here. TR used to influence m...

So the "About" page has been updated and the "staff" segment contains a grand total of 1 person. Doesn't bode too well. Eric Frederiksen seems to be responsible for 90% of the output nowadays, none of it being first-hand reporting, but I wouldn't blame him if he started seriously...

In fact, I quite like seeing articles that I never click or that only vaguely interest me. The same old "content bubble" gets exhausting after a while and regularly seeing things I care less about helps in my opinion.
