Re: Help Please : Not able to modify host file

I tried the second method of opening notepad as an administrator & opening host file from there but nothing was listed in folder " etc " So I did not find host file there. It's probably because the open dialog is set to filter out anything not a *.txt file. Click on the drop down abov...

I have this one for 3x24 inch monitors. I believe there is a 26 inch compatible version you can use with your proposed 2x24+27 setup. http://www.amazon.com/Ergotech-Triple-Horizontal-Monitor-100-D16-B03/dp/B001NPEC5A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388827170&sr=8-2&keywords=ergotech Uses 100mm V...

Re: PS4 finally arrives

Amazon's packaging was pretty poor My packaging wasn't great either. It was just the PS4 box at the bottom of the shipping box with a bunch of plastic air bags thrown on top. If somebody told me that poor packaging was the cause of my issue, I would have no problem believing them. In fact... I am g...

Amazon I don't think I mentioned it in my previous post but the Sony Store employees mentioned that all but one of the defective units that were brought into the store were bought from Amazon. It was to the point that they straight up asked me "Amazon?" when I mentioned that I had the iss...

They exchanged it for a new one. They set aside a few for exchanges that they were able to verify in-store was the blue light issue. Apparently about half of the people that came in could not reproduce when they were present in the store but were promised that if it happened again, they would get an...

Well, good luck with your unit. B.t.w, did you try checking for stuff like bent pins inside the HDMI connector or make sure that the HDD in your unit is seated properly? Thanks. I read the Kotaku article at work on Friday before I got my unit so the HDMI port was the first thing I checked... no dic...

Thanks John, but that post looks like he was referring to one of the pre-launch Taco Bell units that was sent in before Friday. Other posts further down sound like it can take 16-25 business days and with potentially a few thousand units going back in the same manner as mine would be, I'm inclined t...

I got one of the PS4s with the no video/"blue light" issue. Powered on at first but the video feed stopped working shortly after I entered my WIFI password in initial config. Simple power cycling didn't seem to help so I yanked the power cable for a minute and it came back long enough for ...

I'd agree with the idea that it might be a short of some sort. Perhaps a screw or something got between the mobo and the case? It's been known to happen from time to time. Like you're thinking, I'd take the board out and run it outside the case. In fact, for most builds that I do, I put together eve...

I reverted to 4.2.2 stock from 4.4. Partially because my Galaxy Nexus was starting to get really glitchy (no mobile data and graphical artifacts) and partially because I was really curious what the benchmark results would be. Re: AMD's beta CX driver: A day late but hopefully not a $ s

Installed this last night on my dual 7970's but I haven't had a chance to run any benchmarks. I usually run in Eyefinity (6048x1200) so this drive is of relatively limited use to me, but the fact that this is out there is a good sign. Not sure if its particular to my config or not, but I did have fr...

Aeron chair. I've had mine for 6-7 years and it's good as new. I expect it to last at least that much longer. Like SS says, it's worth every dime.

As far as performance goes, you might also want to verify that your games are running in "true" full screen mode and not "full screen windowed" or windowed. Crossfire doesn't really work properly when not in true full screen. Not sure if that would help the black screens, though....

Wow, the Aeron does look nice. It doesn't look super "I could fall asleep in it" comfy, but that's probably a good thing for extended periods of use. I wouldn't say money is no object, but given the fact that a good deal of my time is spent in front of a computer, I think it's worth the e...

So, I'm currently waiting for a project to compile which led me to wonder what the other Dev Gerbils do while waiting for code to compile?

As for myself, I usually find myself here, looking through our bug tracker, checking email, or browsing random website. What about the rest of you guys?

Time to let someone else take a look at the code? Sometimes the most obvious errors just can't be seen by the writer of the code. If you don't have somebody around to look at your code, I've found that rewriting that portion from scratch (and without referring to the original code) has been an effe...

I have an old Pentax 35mm SLR film camera. A little late to the party but I'm not sure why nobody mentioned this yet but if its K-mount, your old glass will work with modern Pentax bodies. It's been a while, but my memory is that Windows won't let you chkdsk the boot/OS drive unless it's during boot, which is how it was most recently done here. Maybe I'm wrong, since I tend to forget details lately. Yeah, that's what I was getting at but didn't gather that from your OP. Looks like my...

Re: Windows 7 and NTFS vs. me

It's a little unclear to me if you're running chkdsk from within Windows or during boot. If you're running it from within Windows, there is a possibility that Windows is somehow locking that file segment. You might want to try scheduling it to run at boot. I usually do this by marking the partition ...
