Re: What cases and PSUs are you guys using?

I'm not sure what my post has to do with your paranoia about proprietary systems and tiny cell phones. I'm using a mid-size case that can take up to an EATX motherboard. As I no longer use hard drives in my PC I was able to remove the dual 3.5" bays to improve internal airflow. The 2.5" b...

Re: Starfalcon's Great Hardware Inventory

Yeah I am always willing to give computers a home JBI :D Edit Bigfoots now have their own section 2nd edit A lot of my drives are barely or never used so they are in good shape, all the 8 and 10 gigers came out of OG Xbox systems from when a friend of mine modded the systems back in the day. Since h...

Re: What cases and PSUs are you guys using?

From my 2012 build to my 2107 build I have stopped using 5.25", 3.5", and 2.5" drives. Case size has dropped by a third while fan size has increased to 140mm from 120mm. This reminds me of around 10 years ago when the trend for cell phones was to make them as small as possible. They ...

Re: What cases and PSUs are you guys using?

OK I have some rants about cases now. My Corsair 300R has the 3.5" drive cage rotated 90 degrees and uses trays that can also handle 2.5" drives so it is far less awkward to install new a HDD/SSD. This should be a standard feature of cases, so why isn't it? Glass windows on cases, why wou...

Re: PS4 Future

I don't think it can support 4K Blu-Ray discs. The hardware isn't in it, from what I've read so far. It uses the exact same drive from the basic PS4, the only thing they really changed was the motherboard and psu. Most likely it was to keep the PS4 Pro from ending up a repeat of the extremely high ...

Re: What cases and PSUs are you guys using?

Lian-Li PC-A76WX Windowed case Replaced my venerable Lian-Li PC-70 I got back in the late 90's, was one of the few cases at the time I could fine with a lot of room for hard drives, and more than 1 5.25 drives as I still use my CD drives for games and other stuff. EVGA P2-1200 Placed my previous 750...

Re: 16 Y/o dies from caffeine overdose

When I was younger, i would drink 2-3 2L RC colas a day. I seriously doubt someone would die from a few things without an underlying heart problem, or he may have been up all night pounding them, and followed that with then for his breakfast.

Re: Starfalcon's Great Hardware Inventory

Yeah it does tend to be kinda random, mostly just stuff I accumulated since the late 90's. Most of this stuff I got free or very cheaply, not going on ebay to buy expensive halo products. Mostly just from the best golden computer era dos-95-98-xp retro computing, mostly stuff that means a lot to me....

Re: Starfalcon's Great Hardware Inventory

Things will be a bit slower now, back to work again. I still have a decent amount left to put up, but I prob have 60-70 percent of it up now. I will keep adding things as I have time to do so.

Re: APC UPS, asking for new battery, humming

The only time I've actually had to disassemble a UPS was to replace a failed internal fan. Many of them require you to disconnect/reconnect spade lug wires to the battery, and in one case I had to use some double-sided foam tape because I refused to pay APC's inflated prices just for them to assemb...

You don't even want to know how much room this stuff takes up. Even I didn't know how much stuff I had, as this is the first real inventory I have done since I started this over 20 some years ago. Re: Starfalcon's Great Hardware Inventory

Surprised you still have that 366mhz Celeron I sold you all those years ago. Seeing this makes me want to dig out my old ware and get it moved, most of it is from the Socket A era with a couple of A64 bits. Doubt it's really worth much though. I have everything I have ever gotten lol....I haven't g...
