Re: TR Dead?

Visiting the site after ages - wanted to check on the latest System Guide, but the front page looks very different.

Nice to see some of the recognizable user handles. Thanks to @JustAnEngineer and @Flying Fox who helped me with my PC builds (9 and 12 years ago).

Re: Wanting new monitor, research ends in confusion

Thanks for this thread. Am kind of in the same situation as well. I have a 24" IPS monitor (HPLP2475w), and am considering a larger screen. The Dell 30" looks perfect (assuming my desk can hold it), however am not sure if I can justify an investment of $1000+. Well, another thread to monit...

Reddit AMA from an Intel chip architect

Link to Reddit Hello reddit, I've been involved in many of Intel's flagship processors from the past few years and working on the next generation. More specifically, Nehalem (45nm), Westmere (32nm), Haswell (22nm), and Broadwell (14nm). In technical aspects, I've been involved in planning, architec...

I believe they are different. The universal bracket that comes with the Hyper 212 Evo has different holes for 775, 1155/1156 and 2011 sockets.

OK. So should I chose the Ripjaws X or the Ares? The main difference is that the Ares is Low Profile , while the Ripjaws X has heat spreaders that might be a problem for cooling setups with low clearance (same as Corsair Vengeance vs Vengeance LP ). Also, agree with DPete27 and Bensam123 who've sug...

CPU voltage is at stock values of around 1.065V. Your stock voltage seems a little high to me. Mine was at 1.014 V. It is now at around 1.064 V (and I've overclocked to 4.1 GHz). If it helps, am using the Hyper 212 Evo with Artic Silver 5 and at stock, the load temps with IBT were in the high 50s. ...

Since I'm here :). The motherboard is fine, except that you're not overclocking, and thus have zero need for its fancy power circuitry. It will work though. Save $50 with an ASRock board. You would get $50 off the motherboard if you go for the i5-3570k, in addition to a significant discount on the CPU. Very tempting - just not sure about the K processor.
