Re: NVidia Ampere

If you hook it to an i9 or top-level Ryzen, 750W is probably the starting point. Top level Ryzen chips + board + memory + SSDs struggle to break 200 watts unless you manually overclock them. I see that you have Radeon Vii. What is your PSU wattage? I have 9900K, RTX 2080Ti, 32GB of RAM and 2TB M.2 ...

There are rumors that consumer cards will have a TDP of 320-350 watts. What is the PSU requirement for these cards?

Re: Upgrading to CoffeeLake, or should I wait ?

I am in the same boat. I still have Nehalem. It is almost 8 years old. I only upgrade video card every 2 years. If you had waited for so long you might want to wait until Z390 in 2018 H2 and either Cannon or Ice Lake I have a Gigabyte Aorus 1080Ti video card. I am very pleased with it. I expect moth...

Re: Ryzen physX test request in upcoming review

In reply to the last 2 posts. -Radeon HD7970 Core i7 960 3.2 GHz.. Original Metro 2033 runs good with physX enabled. Metro Last Light can NOT run in some areas with physX enabled. Then I bought nVidia Titan. Metro Redux games which I believe use physX 3.0 actually run better on CPU because when it i...

Please test how Ryzen CPUs perform in Metro Redux games with physX enabled.

Test 1
- Use Radeon GPU(s)

Test 2
-Use nVidia GPU(s) physX set to CPU
-Use nVidia GPU(s) physX set to GPU

New gaming computer

Hello All, This is my first post in almost 2 years. Next year when Intel Broadwell-E and nVidia Pascal come out I am planning to purchase a new gaming computer. My current machine is Alienware which served me well for 6 years now. The original PSU, MOBO, RAM, HD, NIC, Liquid CPU cooler and Integrate...

Re: Dual PSU setup for ultimate gaming rig

Thanks for all replies. I am aware that 1200W PSU is enough for Tri-SLi. I just think that 2 separate PSUs 700/800 Watts will be quieter and cooler. Judging by the results from Anandtech I believe when Titan 2 based on Maxwell comes out dual SLi should be enough for 3820x2160. Unfortunately their w...

There is one more thing I would like to add. Despite all the criticism of Microsoft and how inefficient DirectX can be. DX11 is bullet proof in terms of stability. Users only run into problems with drivers and games. When was the last time anyone got a DX error when their game crashed? Mantle can o...

Never owned an SLI, but used to own 5870 in dual crossfire. Most of the time never had any issues. The only problems I encountered were with Rage and STALKER CoP Complete mod. I would always opt for the most powerful single GPU solution. P.S. This thread is highly suspecious due to such a naïve ques...

Re: AMD's new proprietary API

If Mantle is low level API it will probably require more coding and development time. Direct access to the hardware will probably require more responsible coding to prevent crashing/BSODs. Actually I had exactly that in mind, and was thinking Mantle probably wouldn't gain much traction because of t...

Here is more info. It also includes new highly programmable audio engine which can enable developers to implement movie-like sound. I expect 20-30% performance increase over 79XX. I might switch back to Radeons if Xbox One/PS4 ports prove to run better on AMD/ATI hardware. At the moment PhysX and driver support makes Nvidia more attractive option at least for me.
