Re: Mice with "free scroll" scroll wheel.

I'm using a Logitech Marathon Mouse that has this feature. You get an extra button on the top to enable/disable it. Plus the batteries last forever. Had mine a good 3 years and still on the original Duracells. Edit: Apologies, looks like you were after something other than a Logitech. Still, I can h...

Yep, standard optical drives read them just fine. I assume the burners are fairly cheap as they are coming as standard on some HP Prodesk PCs.

Re: Soldering Iron Recommendations

I'd always go for a Weller iron. I use a 60W with a fine flat sided tip. Never been keen on the expensive stations. For cap replacement and fitting new dc jacks A weller W61 is perfect IMO. As for de-soldering, I refuse to use anything but my Edsyn soldapullt. Best damn solder sucker there is. http:...

+1 for the box-top build. Whip that board out set it on something non-conductive. If it has on-board video, leave the video card out too. All you want is 1 DIMM, CPU and heatsink with fan plugged in, and a known working PSU with the ATX connector and the 4 pin CPU power plugged in too. Might sound l...

Totally no help to you, but you might as well get rid of the two 'list' commands. Don't see any reason for them in a batch file.

It sounds like you just fancy a change. Have you considered waiting until March to check out the BB Z10? True, you wouldn't get your Live Tiles to match Win 8 but the new BB OS10 looks very compelling i think..

Re: Toner cartridge, or fuser?

Drum. To much toner is always the drum. The drum is electrically charged (positive I believe) and the laser prints a negative charge on the surface. The toner has the same charge as the unexposed drum and so only sticks where the laser exposed it. This is then transfered to the paper by pressure co...

Re: Toner cartridge, or fuser?

Easy way to troubleshoot this. Just stop the print half way through by opening the toner access panel before the page gets to the fuser or just power off half way through.
If your gray lines are there before it gets fused then probably the drum/toner. Give it a try.

Re: My new home server project...

LoneWolf has a point here. Though the P410 has two mini sas ports each supporting 4 sas/sata channels so it's easily possible but the cables aren't cheap i think. I'd just go for 4x 2TB over the P410 and if I was me, an ssd on the on-board sata for the OS. Out of interest, how much did you get you P...

Re: My new home server project...

Actually, now i think about it It's possible the P410 supports RAID5 without the cache module. It's the P212 that needs the cache for RAID5 support. Don't quote me on that though. I seem to remember the 410 needs the BBWC only for RAID6. But guess as you already have the memory card my point is moot...

Re: My new home server project...

As long as you have the cache module fitted you can do RAID5. Battery is not required for this. You just have to press F8 during post for the RAID config and create your array. As a side note, I would get an extra 2TB drive and have raid 5 over 4 drives. Take out the optical drive you fitted and ret...

Re: Any reason I shouldn't buy a Dell XPS 14?

Well, I just received my XPS 14 yesterday! So far my only complaint is the keyboard doesn't have a Pause/break button and page up/down and home/end keys require the function button. Other than that its great. Very solid construction. Great battery life (Reporting 8hrs 32min at 95% at the moment, tho...
