Just had to replace our 15 year old dryer's heating coil and door switch. Oddly enough they both died at the same time. Simple swapouts.

Re: Cisco ASA keeps killing my SSH connections

My guess its the threat detection and its shunning that connection for a period of time. You can either shut off that feature, or whitelist the connection IP in threat detection.

Re: Best mail server software

I would consider O365 again especially if its only for 5 users. You will save yourself a ton of headache and time from install\setup\maintenance\ssl cert, etc. O365 can be had for $4/user a month if I recall. We have several clients on it, including ourselves who migrated from our own internal Excha...

Re: Virtualization Server advice

If you are going to have 12 Windows Server 2012 VMs, then you should purchase Windows Server 2012 Datacenter edition. It will give you unlimited number of VMs, and you can use it on the Host itself. I too would recommend an HP server (intel). The DL380s are highly recommended. Shoot for Raid 10 if y...

Re: Stripping SBS 2011 down towards 2008 R2

You talk about a backup script, can you elaborate on this issue? Oh, I really wish I could. There's an existing setup that I have to decode and understand so that I can troubleshoot. It may, in fact, be most of the issue. Now that I have Exchange out of the way, the backup mess is my next to-do. Cu...

Re: Win 7 Joining New Domain - DNS Error

Why dont you just migrate the domain to the new box (SBS or Standard) and save yourself some hassle (and yes, it can be done going to SBS)? You cannot ad a new domain or domain controller if SBS is the master SCHEMA. No DCPROMO going on there. Sure you can. You can join the server to the existing d...

Re: Win 7 Joining New Domain - DNS Error

Start with these: 1. Verify that all clients are pointing to the new server for their DNS address 2. Verify that the server is pointing only to its internal IP address (the same as above) for its DNS resolution 3. Verify that DNS is installed and the DNS server and DNS client services are started on...

Re: Cant install windows vista service pack 2 (64bit)

I would: 1 - Verify you are on SP1 2 - Verify you are up to date on all other MS patches 3 - Update to the latest NIC and chipset drivers (I recall some SPs being blocked due to bad\old drivers) 4 - Runs the SFC utility as recommended previously 5 - Run the system update readiness tool (http://suppo...

But the best thing to do with 4 drives if you really want a RAID array is to do a 1+0 or 0+1 (sometimes called 10) where you mirror a raid 0, or raid 0 a mirror. But you lose half your capacity for only a slight improvement in performance overall. Mike. Write speeds are much improved, depending on ...

I came across a client that was setup with domain.org, and they had that domain on the internet. This of course caused some issues. We were able to get by this by creating records in DNS on the domain controller that pointed to the www and mail of their external domain. This cleared up the issue.
