Re: RIP Licketysplit

I've pretty much always been a lurker since I found out about this site, but I do remember reading a lot of his posts back in the day. Sad to hear of his passing.

Re: AMD wants to standardize the external GPU

I like the idea of say in a year or so I decide to re purpose my NUC as a lite gaming rig for my niece or the living room. It'd be great to then add my 960 or (if I upgrade out of it) my 980 from my main rig. Not saying that this is for sure going to happen, but if I did decide to do this, then I wo...

Re: New to system building. Do it myself or hire someone?

I know I'm a little late on this, as you're already choosing what to put in, but here is my first rule about working inside a computer. I tell this to ANYBODY that says that they want to upgrade or build one... Don't force ANYTHING , be it a card or a cable or whatever. If it doesn't want to fit, st...

Re: Source of food

I still eat raman every now and again, but while I was in the Navy, my roommate decided to make 5 packs at a time (quite often I might add). We used to have 3 man rooms, but they dropped us to two man rooms, so we had an extra locker then. Well, he would NEVER finish all his raman, so we'd end up wi...

Re:

I've been looking at the WinTV-PVR-USB2 what's the quality like for you??? The quality is usually pretty good. Gotta take this with a big grain of salt, because my standard basic cable isn't always super purty, so the capture isn't good, but, it's true to the input. I am currently working on replac...

Re: Arctic Ceramique vs Arctic Silver 5

I am using Ceramique on 2 cpu's (AMD 5000+ BE and Phenom 9500) and on my 8800GT. I haven't used AS5 on my 8800, but did test it on the BE chip. Cooling was (or at least for the SMALL bit of testing I did) ~2 degree's cooler, but I didn't do anything even remotely "scientific" testing wise....

P-3? Does that refer to an airplane? The only P-3 aircraft I've ever heard of is the Lockheed P-3 Orion . Yes, P-3 Orion's. ASW planes. 4 Props (Turbo-prop, so still jet), based out of NAS Barber's Point, HI. I was making a joke there heh. Slow planes, and they COULD carry 1 harpoon missile, maybe....

My favorite projectile concept is "rods from god." instead of shooting something out of a barrel, you mark it with a laser or enter GPS coordinates. A big object covered in a heat shield with low wave drag and a mechenism to aim that you put into space at a previous time aquires a target ...

For me it's Civ 3. I have tried to play Diablo 1/2 again, but just can't get past the mental block. MOO 2 calls me back in every once in a while also. As far as MMO's go, well, I STILL want to go back and play Asheron's Call (haven't played that since the late 90's) and Anarchy Online (IMO the "...

I just recently got a "true" HTPC going (used to have the tuner cards in my main rig, not TOO bad since they're both hardware MPEG encoders). I put the tuners into my old comp (A64 3200+) w/ onboard sound (not even hooked up to speakers) and a 6600gt (again, my old main's hardware). I watch tv on my...

I had that trouble when I put together my Athalon XP 1900+ chip in my Soltek SL-75DRV5 MB... Try making sure the heatsink is making VERY GOOD contact... Mine wasn't quite seated straight... I moved it about 1/4 a centimeter, and it worked fine. Just a thought. Good luck.
