AMD Radeon RX 480= 980 GTX in 3D Mark 11

In the 3DMark Performance benchmark, the AMD Radeon RX 480 posted a score of P-14 461 points, which is pretty much identical to the average score managed by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980. It is also only marginally behind the much more expensive Radeon R9 Fury in the same benchmark, which does speak vo...

Re: R9 290X | Low Utilization / Performance

They are harder to benchmark consistently, but it was actually while playing Titanfall I noticed performance getting very choppy after 5 minutes or so. The FPS was peaking in the 90's and constantly dipping into the 20's. Perhaps the runs don't need to be consistent, so if I plot average FPS with t...

Re: AMD's 390X and FreeSync

HBM looks nice, though it makes me wonder if AMD is going to ever focus on power efficiency the way nvidia (and for that matter, Intel) have. I doubt the 390X will consume as little power as the 980. We all know those cards won't be comparable and at the price the thing might sell, power consumptio...

Re: Should I build a new pc or just upgrade pieces?

Upgrading your video card would make a difference but not significant since it would be bottle-necked by your dual core CPU, old mobo and DDR2 ram.
Your best bet would be to upgrade your whole system.
What is your budget?

Re: Mechanical Hard Drives Today Are Garbage?

I have a 160GB WD Blue that started to show signs of failure( overheating) after like 7 years of everyday usage. It was used as an OS/Apps drive btw.
Got it for $89.99 at BestBuy, go figure.

Re: How Powerful are you expecting Ps4 and Xbox 720 to be?

I dunno but both consoles must fit in a tight power and heat budget, 250w max I think.

the current xbox slim only uses like 90w at full load...

AMD APUs are not powerful enough for a next gen hd console gaming unless its crossfired with a dedicated gpu...

Don't just go by newegg reviews, research the product on google...

I was also wondering if my power supply was okay? I'm probably going to be getting the Superclocked EVGA GTX 560 and I'm wondering if my 380 watt power supply from the econobox would provide enough power to run everything. If anyone could help point me to the right direction as far as power supply ...

If all workloads were INT based then Bulldozer would be a beast. It was built to be part of a APU where the GPU handles FP work.

It is somewhat CPU dependent as well, Sandy bridge gets a noticeable boost in fps over Phenoms clock for clock.
Skyrim likes higher CPU clock frequencies as well.

The Death of DirectX and OpenGL

The more general purpose GPUs become, graphics APIs will become less relevant, correct? O_O Like being able to code directly to the GPU using C++. AMD is bringing c++ support with southern islands and Nvidia will bring improved c++ support with Kepler. APIs are holding back GPUs, that's why PC games...
