Re: Cooler For 9900

If it is a 9900 (non K) you won't need anything exotic. I suggest a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo for my go-to budget cooler.

Re: Aged system crashing. Getting new PSU as first step...

If going with a Corsair PSU (I run them), I recommend any corsair PSU that doesn't start with a C (CS, CSM, etc, I have no experience with the VS). They are the only ones I have had fail, every one, about 4x of them failed 1-2yrs in. I have some first gen TXs still going, tons of RM, AX, and HX in d...

Re: New gaming build. It’s glorious!

Nice build! In fact, such a good build, I built a very similar too. 9900k@5.1 (1.25v), RTX2080, AX1200i, 2x970evo 500gb, 3x120 custom loop, etc. As for questions about pressure/heat, I may be able to add some info. My last case was a 850D, with tons of negative pressure (3 rad fans on top out, rear ...

I've had a glitchy/artifacted bios screen, replaced the GPU with no luck, ended up being the PSU. Also worth checking memory one stick at a time.

Unplug the MAF and test, the car should run in closed loop. If it still runs rough you can do the same for the MAP. I would test one sensor at a time.

House struck by lightning

So just to say this first, I am incredibly happy and lucky that my house didn't burn down, my dogs are safe, my GF and her kids were not home. I took off early yesterday to meet the washer repair man at my house, and noticed my office lights would not turn on. Proceeded to reset two tripped breakers...

Don't be afraid of high quality TN for gaming. My secondary monitor is an older Dell 24in IPS 1920x1200, and my Primary is the 27in TN Gsync S2716DG 1440p. The TN looks better than the IPS.

IMO this one is easy. Get a 1080 Ti in the next month or so. Agreed, and prices are dropping quick. I had half a dozen I needed to sell (mine and friend's cards), and every week have been getting less and less, just sold one yesterday for $500, was getting $600-700 3 weeks ago. I'm hanging onto one...

What fps did a 1080ti/1080/vega get at the same demo? 30fps is very impressive if the previous gen ran it at less than half that (or could run it at all).

Re: Just installed an SSD. Anything I should be wary of?

Here's a real thing to worry about: While you should always make sure that critical data are backed up no matter what kind of storage device you use, the failure mode of SSDs is often different than hard drives. In many situations, hard drives will give you all kinds of warnings that they are dying...

Re: Please help laptop LCD monitor goes crazy

From the video, the fact that it happens on the laptop screen and the monitor, it looks like a hardware issue. It could be overheating, as suggested above, clean it out (you could also download temp monitoring programs like Coretemp and GPUz to check). Artifacts like that normally point to memory, i...

Update, 10:56 PM - 1/2/18 - As it turns out, apparently the Linux patch that is being rolled out is for ALL x86 processors including AMD, and the Linux mainline kernel will treat AMD processors as insecure as well. As a result, AMD CPUs will feel a performance hit as well, though the bug only techn...

Team Viewer has done this to me, if I remote in with a 1080p resolution it scales it, then when I come back home it sometimes does not scale it back to 1440p correctly.

As much as I sympathize with those who lost here I also can't help but wonder why they were using such poor management of their assets in the first place. I guess BTC transaction fees scare some off or a lack of knowledge. But either way. Again, do not trust your BTC (or any cyrpto) with a third-pa...

Bitcoin itself was not the issue. Most likely a security issue with nicehash allowed them to steal or bypass the private keys. Once news of this hits mainstream, it may hurt the price or not.

From the looks of it, a major bitcoin scam has happened. Inside job, theft of private keys, MT GOX all over? Their reddit is blowing up with info, last night nicehash went down for maintenance, but when they came back up, all their wallet money, and money they hold to payout weekly were wiped out (4...
