Even though it's not quite in overheat territory, that's still a bit warmer than it should be for stock clock on stock cooler.

GTX1080 11GBPS versions

Anyone see the upgraded 11GBPS versions on amazon or newegg? Looking for one ASAP. I see Asus, EVGA, and Gigabyte have them on their site, MSI doesn't.

Got some HD280 on sale back in 2010, they have aged very well, finally replaced the top pad and the 2 ear pads this past year. If I would not have looked them up I would have never guessed they were 7 years old!

Re: 7700k, wow!

I went from a 4.9ghz 4790k DDR3-2133 to 5.1ghz 7700k DDR4-3600 and saw massive (unexpected) smoothness gains. I'm pretty confident that the memory jump gave me the most seat-of-the-pants gains, but I can attest that it was a real doubling of my low fps numbers (like MMOs in packed ares, BL2 with hea...

I wonder if it will be like the Phenom II X2 555, built one of those for a budget machine with an hd5770 and unlocked to a quad, never had any issues.

Re: computerbase.de Revisits Ryzen Gaming Performance

I honestly do not get why people don't understand this. Maybe a lack of understanding or knowledge I suppose, but it's time to listen. It's not your motherboard, it's not your power supply, it's not some microcode issue. Ryzen on that GF process is just not going to OC well no matter how many cores...

Re: computerbase.de Revisits Ryzen Gaming Performance

I still say wait for the r5 (4c/8t) for gaming performance. I would expect it to be able to rev to 4.5ghz to 5ghz. That will give you the gaming performance people are looking for. Unless we get a zen 1.1, or silicon revision, I would not expect any ghz headroom increase. I'd put money is on 4.1-4....

1.35v is safe.

I am running this memory on a 5.1ghz 7700k (1.375v), XMP enabled (1.35v memory, 3600mhz) and I expect no issues..

Re: Can anyone clear up - safest 3200MHz RAM approach?

The speed of the memory will not damage the chip, but voltage will.

Anything under 1.4v is considered the max safe for normal usage 24/7 on intel's DDR4 memory controller.

Check Power options (in Control Panel), if set to High Performance, try using a Balanced profile. Sounds like something is keeping it from stepping down.

Re: Newfound Opinion: Ryzen is the second coming of K7

Ryzen reminds me more of how K10 (Phenom 1 x4) started, minus the TLB bug. Good chip if you need more cores, good IPC, true quad (vs intel's dual-core core2's at the time, you could get the $600-1000 pre-q6600 quads from intel), just not enough ghz.

Re: Kaby Lake 7700K vs Sandy Bridge 2600K @[H]

IDK, like I said above, even Rimworld, which reports a steady 60 FPS on both systems, is subjectively smoother on my 7700k with it's super-speed memory. I am finding the same, going from a 4790k to 7700k and DDR3 2133 to DDR4 3600 has significantly increased game smoothness, it is noticeable. My lo...

I wish I could build someone even one system with a budget like that.  You got 2 (plus your own).  Lucky dog. Haha, it wasn't that bad. Re: Built and OCed 3x I7 - 7700k gaming rigs (4.9-5.2ghz)

Nice results! It's always a good feeling when you can drop your temps and increase performance over stock settings. I forgot to mention this, at stock settings, Chip 1 & 2 were 1.214v chips (in cpuz) while chip 3 was 1.246v (and could not break 5.0ghz). Also going from 4.9ghz 4970k to this chip ...

Built and OCed 3x I7 - 7700k gaming rigs (4.9-5.2ghz)

I was rebuilding my home pc (CPU/RAM/Board/SSD), a friends (CPU/RAM/Board/SSD/Case), and another full build for another friend. Was able to boot at 5.3ghz, but not stable above 5.2ghz, setting a personal best ghz record. Then backed each chip off 100mhz for long term stability, followed up with a 24...

Re: If you are getting Kaby Lake, go ahead & Delid it

You can use it without a lid, but you better be totally one hundred percent fine with busting your CPU because it will more than likely happen if you're not careful. I personally wouldn't use an AIO cooler in that case because you can't tell how much pressure you're putting on the die. Then again, ...

For me, it's purely distance. All our buildings are connected with gig SFP, with the fiber under ground or strung on poles (on the old buildings). CAT6(+) and some old 5e in the walls and for everything else. When I started here 6 years ago, my switches were 10/100 with a couple of gig blades for th...
