Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

In HS we learned to type on IBM "Wheelwriter" typewriters. My current place of employment had several in use when I started, and still has a couple. I would imagine they're some sort of buckling spring similar to a Model M, but the keyfeel is excellent.

Re: Car accident, what is insurance's responsibility?

OP indicated a 500 dollar deductible. Unless "scuffed" actually means bent metal or deeply scratched paint, we're not almost certainly not talking anything near that high in damages. Driver-side side rearview mirrors aren't that expensive typically. Thus, you're not really paying the dedu...

Re: Car accident, what is insurance's responsibility?

Anyone who has dealt with another party's insurance company knows that it's almost always a nightmare. They will jerk you around at every turn, try to send you to shoddy repair shops who do lousy work, and string everything out for as long as possible. It's not worth the time or aggravation. If she ...

It's going to be impossible to completely secure XP at this point, and I honestly wouldn't waste your time trying. Since her issue is almost certainly the UI, that's where I would focus your efforts. Others have suggested Classic Shell, and I think this (or something similar) is the way to go. Get t...

Re: Ryzen stable now?

It's a new chipset (and I don't trust Asmedia for anything), so if you really want to be sure, wait 6 months. In any case, coming from a 7700k hardly seems like an upgrade. You'll be losing a some performance in gaming and lightly threaded workloads. You'd have to really need those additional cores ...

It should be a minimum 8x the previous fine for the second violation, and a further exponential increase (or a large percentage of their gross income) for the 3rd.

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

The TX3 looks to be a very nice 92mm cooler, but I can’t find it anywhere reputable (and where it is available, the price is jacked up). Yeah, I noticed that. They used to be easy to find for ~$20 on sale; WTF? I actually have a couple of used ones in my spares pile, but unfortunately I don't think...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Being that I strongly dislike the mounting mechanism on the CM 212 EVO, I was happy to snag a 212 LED for a mere $15 (without rebates at the time) for my new build. I figured if the lights bothered me, I’d either snip them or swap the fan. Finally got around to pulling the old system from my GD-07B ...

Re: Why can't I post links in my threads?

I believe there's a small post-count requirement before you can post links. This is to help prevent spammers from registering and immediately putting up links to malicious sites. I believe the number of posts is pretty low, so hang out and chat for a bit. Welcome to the forums.

The world is filled with absolute morons and idiots, so it stands to reason that attorneys and judges (being drawn of the same pool) are not exempt. If changing the entire basis of your legal defense doesn’t mean anything “because they’re just different words”, then what’s the point of having a defe...

Re: weird issue would like your input

I'm not a fan of Gigabyte boards lately. My parents FM2 setup randomly reboots since installing W10, and follows no pattern nor gives any indication as to why (it was solid under W7, so I can only guess drivers, though I've tried different versions of most everything). More recently, my nephew bough...

I'm actually glad I saw this thread. I'm getting ready to hand down my 2500k Sandy system to my parents, and it still has the original CMOS battery from 2011. Gotta say, this is the first time I've used something as my main rig for so long that the battery was due for replacement.

Speaking of advertising.... Does it seem strange to anyone else that Menards repeatedly plays their commercials while you're in the store ? You're already there. That's a very good price, and would make a great game storage drive for people like myself (up over 1.1TB now).

Of course, it's hard to justify spending $300 for better level load times unless everything else is up to snuff....

Asmedia being involved in the chipset design still makes me incredibly skittish for anything that isn't well into its product cycle and thoroughly vetted. I would also want native USB 3.1 Gen 2 at this point.

Re: Samsung FreeSync TVs in 2018

@ the While you may end up being right about Intel, from a logical standpoint, people using those integrated GPUs have almost zero impact on the sales of gaming displays, nor care anything of VRR. The two major consoles, as pure gaming machines, should be the real 800lb gorillas. Of course things do...

So yeah....since the PS4 Pro uses essentially the same AMD graphics chip and has HDMI 2.0, they should be able to add Freesync support with a software update.

Re: Samsung FreeSync TVs in 2018

The main problem with Freesync vs GSync is that Freesync as a check-box feature means that it is added to all sorts of crappy display with very narrow VRR windows. Until there is an easy way to differentiate good Freesync vs Freesynch-as-a-checkbox, I don't think nVidia will switch gears. I'm prett...

Can't say I've had many issues with SATA cables pulling loose over the years. I'm still just happy I don't need to screw around with routing obnoxious PATA cables or master/slave crap anymore. Hopefully in another 5 years, the majority of consumer hardware will be using M.2, and forego cables altoge...

Re: Samsung FreeSync TVs in 2018

A sign that Xbox has already had an impact. Very good*. Now if Sony could just do the same thing with the PS4 (also running AMD graphics), it'd really put the nail in the coffin and end this nonsense. As a bit of a sidenote, I'm curious as to why the original Xbox hardware couldn't implement Freesyn...

Microcenter is selling the previous gen iPad (they call it the "5"; between the Air 2 and the newly released model) at $250 for the 32GB version. Should be good for 4+ years, whereas Android devices are lucky to be supported for 18 months.

I live in the same general area, and get those same ants every year. They suck, because their dark color and small size (combined with having dark floors) means that I don't always see them right away, and can sometimes have a full-scale invasion by the time I notice. Anyhow, I'm guessing each speci...
