Re: Mouse Suggestion Please

Yeah, Logitech used those crappy Omron switches for a bunch of mice. My Performance MX stopped working with a month of warranty left. I contacted Logitech and they sent me a new one and did not ask for my old one. I repaired the old one twice now. The first time I took the switch apart and bent the...

Re: Need a new office chair.

I would say Steelcase are the best for durability, followed closely by HON. Most others only last a few years before they start to break. As far as comfort goes, I think that depends on the person (people come in different sizes and shapes) and the adjustability of the chair. My chair is a very old ...

Re: 7870 not working in new Skylake build

set it to auto Auto is default. After I got it to work on Gen 2, I tried setting it to Gen 3 and that was a no go. I did not bother trying it on Gen 1 mode, whats the point if it at least works in Gen 2 mode. It would be nice to get it to work in Gen 3 mode because I was planning on getting an M2 S...

Re: 7870 not working in new Skylake build

I found the problem. I went to Advanced Mode (F7) > Settings > Advanced > PCI Subsystem Settings > PEG0 - Max Link Speed and switched it to Gen2. Now it works.

IDK why it does not work in Gen 3 mode. the 7870 is a Gen 3 card? any insights?

Re: Aaaaaargh... gave my RK-9000 a beer bath!

I have been using an IBM model M13 for many years now. The only problem is it is not compatible with a lot of motherboards. Some will not detect it on a cold boot, but a reboot will get them going, some motherboards just don't have PS2 ports. A few years ago I bout a compatible usb adapter for it. T...

I would check for any BIOS updates for the Mobo. Also I would test the RAM with Memtest x86+

Re: My pc building nightmare

It seems he is having the same problem I am having with my MSI z270PCMate. I hooked a monitor up to each output (mobo and GPU) to help troubleshoot, but it just doesn't post with the GPU installed. Edit 1 for spelling Edit 2 for my solution, which may help. I found the problem on my build. I went to...

7870 not working in new Skylake build

So my hard drive died a few weeks ago on my old Core 2 Duo system. I was able to get my data off the failing drive. I decided it was time to upgrade. I bought a new 6700K and a MSI Z270PCmate, a sata ssd, some Corsair RAM, and a Be Silent case. I planned on reusing my old power supply and XFX 7870 g...

Re: Give us 10 good reasons you should win a Corsair RM1000i Special Edition here

1. My cat wants a new heater. 2. My Core 2 Duo E8400 system needs a replacement. 3. I bought a Corsair Obsidian case to go with it (What can I say, I'm a sucker for brushed aluminum). 4. My future Asus Z170-Pro motherboard Will also match (Us colorblind need to stick to black and white). 5. This wil...

Re: Z170 Motherboard Recommendations

Thanks for the input, especially about the PciE bandwith. I really would not be using any M2 slots, I have the Intel 750 drive for the OS (which plugs into a regular PciE slot just like a GPU) and I will probably have a regular SATA spinner for data. I really do not want to spend $252 on a mobo, esp...

Z170 Motherboard Recommendations

I am thinking of finally upgrading my very old E8400 system. I am thinking of going for a Z170 chipset, because I run a modded Minecraft server and I bought an Intel 750 series SSD, and I need the Gen3 X4 PciE slot. I am afraid that if I put it in a Z97 board, It will split my PciE lanes to X8-X8, l...

No replies?
No suggestion for a data recovery software that works with removable media?
I'm starting to worry that I'm in a pickle.

Recovering data from an Andriod tablet.

So I have a Motorola Xoom and last nite I updated Google Keyboard, Netflix, and Moon Reader. This morning I look and everything I have ever downloaded has been deleted. Lots of PDFs, Epubs, Ebooks, and a few other things. They do not even show up Astro file manager. I connected the tablet to my wind...

Re: Current mobos that support AMD core unlocking

I did not buy the board new, I got it 2nd hand a year ago or so. I doubt if they would cover the warranty if I am not the original owner. Thanks for the suggestion.

Current mobos that support AMD core unlocking

My motherboard died a few days a go. I had a Gigabyte GA-880-GA-UD3H and a AMD Phenom II X2 555 unlocked to 4 core. I would like to spend as little money as possible, my budget doesn't allow much. So I would like to just buy a replacement MOBO. I would greatly prefer an Asus or Gigabyte mobo. The th...

Re: Win one of three Asus Xonar sound cards

I have a Creative XFI sound card with front panel audio thingy. I use the front panel audio for headphone monitors while playing music (drums, bass, guitar). This is a PCI card that is getting long in the tooth. It has it quirks and I have been itching to upgrade. I have stereo audio from the card's...

Re: Enter here for a chance to win a free Just Cause 2 license

My first build was back in 2000 or 2001. A good friend of mine showed me how to build a PC. We scrounged up some unused parts and I bought all the other necessary parts. It was a MSI MS6117 Mobo, a Celeron 433MHz CPU, 384MB ram, a Promise PCI raid controller, 2 WD 40GB Hard drives (the biggest made ...
