Re: What do you do with games you already completed?

Funny...I just got done replaying Metroid Fusion , I've been contemplating another run through the Metroid Prime series. and I picked up Fable: The Lost Chapters via the Summer Sale, which I had played on Xbox years ago. There are some games that I finish and think, "I have no reason to ever p...

Re: What do you do with games you already completed?

Another example is one of my cousin's kids really, really, for days wanted to play this game that I have. They were over one day, super excited to play it. Only lasted around 8 minutes, and he was already check out the other games that I have, and then 10 minutes later repeat the process. Just way t...

Re: What do you do with games you already completed?

It's not the same as it was twenty years ago? ... You don't say. Don't know if you read my post or not, but my point was that kids today, like my cousin's kids, who have an insane amount of games, with emulation, and parents who buy them more games due to those parents having grown up with video ga...

What do you do with games you already completed?

Do you immediately go onto another game and repeat the process after you pass that game? Or do you re play it a couple of times, or go on to play some games you already played? I ask because most of us when we were kids had a limited number of games, and in my case if my cousin came over and brought...

Re: Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

Should not be any special drivers required for the PCI slots. Check Device Manager and see if there are any errors. Are you getting an error message when you try to start the Catalyst tool? Installing Windows from an image may cause problems if the image was from a radically different system. (This...

Re: Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

I got the card today, I've been trying to install it for the past 5 hours, but it's not picking up the drivers and the catalyst installs but won't start. I'm guessing that perhaps the PCI needs some drivers or something. Just trying so many different things, I installed Windows 7 (from an image), ho...

Re: Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

Last night I decided to just cut my losses and keep the GPU. I already spent $20 on that ram, which is incompatible with the $30 motherboard that I found. The most intensive thing she does is watch Flash videos, so hopefully the new GPU will be able to handle it. At least I was able to learn about t...

Re: Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

re: PCI graphics card The PCI interface probably won't allow the GPU to work to its full potential. These cards are sold because sometimes you've got a legacy system that you must keep running for whatever reason. Now...about the path you are going down..... My two cents is that trying to repurpose...

Re: Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

Yeah, it is a waste of money trying to bring life back to a really old computer. And I should probably return the GPU back, though I feel bad for newegg having to pay the shipping. But it's about the challenge in a way. I was thinking of buying this used motherboard for $30 http://www.ebay.com/itm/I...

Re: Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

Radeon 5450 GPU for $80 WHAT!!!? I think you should run EVERYTHING by the TR gerbils before making any more purchases. A 5450 is worth $10 at best . Anything with a Core2 Duo is going to have PCI express, DDR2, and SATA. Take pictures of the current system and new mobo/CPU and post them in this thr...

Re: Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

Thanks puppetworx and Just blew it. I wish I knew this before I bought a 1gb DDR stick for $20, and a PCI Radeon 5450 GPU for $80. The PCI express version was $30, so the $50 could have gone into a used motherboard and CPU. Here's a video of the computer that I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.co...

Replacing a Pentium 4 motherboard with a Core 2 Duo's

My mother has a Pentium 4 Sony Vaio, bought I believe in 2003. I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the motherboard to a Core 2 Duo motherboard, and a new processor. Will the power button connectors, etc from a Pentium 4 Sony case work with a Core 2 Duo board?

Re: Windows 8 SSD - what's taking up all the space?

Yeah, I was going to say paging file, or hibernation. Yesterday I lowered my paging file to 4gb since I had ran out of space on my SSD. (I was temporally holding a bunch of files, so I don't necessarily need a bigger SSD.)

Re: Virtualization on Core i5 M20 2.4GHz

I'm new in this board, so I'm not quite sure how to quote, and have little time. But thanks. I will check the bios, hopefully it will work. Sucks that they would turn off features like that. I don't like Sony, but this was the best value that I could find at the moment I bought it. Not that I did mu...

Virtualization on Core i5 M20 2.4GHz

I have a VAIO laptop with an Intel Core i5 M20. I read some specs and it says that it supports virtualization. But when I turn on my virtual machine (Virtual PC 2007). So far Windows XP, Vista, Windows 98, in the settings it says that my machine does not support virtualization. Any ideas why? Does I...

I don't trust the claim that Apple has superior customer service. In other words whether it's good or bad if you've ever come across people who use Mac on the internet they're always going to give it a superior rating even if it was delivered covered in dog doodie. Re: Windows 7 rules, despite all that is said around

I like Windows 7 as well, but... unfortunately, I think I've had enough of Windows. Not because of W7 itself, but it just happens that I reached the end of my patience with W7. I'm SO tired of all the little things you have to do to make things right. And on each install of a Windows, weather it's ...

What is the best video editing program?

I would like get opinions on what is the absolute best and easy to use video editing program. At least the best free video editing program. Also, is it possible to edit WMV files, like cut parts of it out without affecting the quality of the rest of the videos. Similar to mpeg and avi editing?

Re: Replacing a motherboard, CPU, etc

Case designs have come a long way since the Pentium III days. You don't necessarily have to look at the fruit or overpriced Vaio's for "nice looks" anymore. Actually I don't think I can find anything beige these days. :o That said, if he's building a new machine anyway he might be able to...

Re: Replacing a motherboard, CPU, etc

You are going to be changing the motherboard, RAM, CPU, and possibly the video card all at once, which is the majority of the cost of a new box anyway. Check out the latest System Guide , things have gotten so cheap you may just be able to splurge on a totally new box. ;) I wanted to keep the case ...

Replacing a motherboard, CPU, etc

I have an 800Mhz Pentium III Sony Vaio Desktop that I bought in November 2000. My question is can I replace the mother board with one that supports a Pentium D processor, or better yet a Core 2 Duo? Are the mother board connectors compatible? Will I be able to turn it on when pressing the power butt...
