Re: Teen roasts kitten

It seems to be happening quite a bit lately. Down here in Florida there was recently a case of a woman that severely burned her boyfriend's puppy so bad that it had to be put to sleep. A couple days later there was another report of a man that beat a puppy to death . Not to mention the crazy kid tha...

Re: Seagate 1.5TB's anyone buying anymore?

Using a 1TB Samsung F1 now, consolidated three 320GB Seagate 7200.10 into this one. Much quieter, runs cooler (23C as opposed to 32C for the Seagates) and is faster. I don't trust Seagate anymore.

Re: I give up, or how Seagate continues to suck

I run around six 500GB Seagate USB /eSata Free agent drives at work with no problems, and have a 1TB 7200.11 inside of a enclosure at home without issue. You could have just gotten unlucky. Try a RMA. I don't think it's luck at all. It's well documented of how horrible the quality is of Seagate dri...

A large enough surge and your pretty much screwed one way or the other. I have seen tv's connected to a surge protector that had parts melted off the PCB and laying in the bottom of the case after a lightning strike. Cat 5 if its your own personal network and doesn't leave your apartment should be ...

Re: Subwoofer Audio Quality Question

I've been noticing lately that most subwoofers are built with the intent of the "blowhole" being in the front and the speaker facing the side. Why is this? Does it give it better audio quality or is there some other reason....or possibly no reason? Thanks for any input. It's not a blowhol...

Errr, I'm currently running a nVidia 750a with no complaints... Also, TR's system guide recommends the triple core with their latest system...

I have thus far only been able to get Ubuntu running on Virtualbox 2.2.4. Others I have tried and that have faild: WinXP Win2000 Fedora 11 Fedora 10 Kubuntu Debian 5 So that seems like a long list of failures to me and a very short list of successes. Anyone running 2.2.4? At this point I'm consider...

Re: Bigger HDD for OS or small one?

The Seagate would be faster, since it's the most recent drive, plain and simple (and in the same category, of course). Also, bigger, newer drives also tend to have higher-density platters, which in turn means more data passes under the head in one revolution, thus being again faster. I agree. I wou...

Yes,it is...apparently Microsoft seems to think defragging is useful on the OS that they designed. No, they put it in there so people wouldn't ever think about it. People were so obsessed with defragging in Windows XP that they wasted their money on software like Diskeeper and PerfectDisk. Microsof...

Dissing other's viewpoints/sources without your own source+evidence is not exactly debunking. "You are wrong, and you need to prove it" is not very helpful. One guy posted his opinion on defrag, you posted your own. No point projecting your opinion as fact. Errr, I posted proof in another...

Antec Nine Hundred, just contact Antec for a standard side panel if you don't like windows. It's what I did for mine and it cooled ten times better than my old P180. In fact, I hated my P180. It was such a pain to assemble. The lower chamber was a good concept but failed miserably in implementation.

Debunking the myth that a defrag causes a significant enough difference to warrant spending $49-99 on a separate utility for Windows is quite useful in my book. You mean I have to prove that I can notice a difference? The performance improvement is highly subjective. Yes, and I've been saying that. Making a statement like "defragging does nothing to improve performance" is complete BS. It may or may not make a difference, but defragging isn't a crime and can help improve performance if the drive is badly fragmented. Sorry, but in my book unless you ca...
