Re: IT ticketing software

Thank you for all the responses! We haven't *totally* ruled out open source, I think we are just hesitant. It's mainly a concern regarding supporting functionality when people come and go. Eventually, we want to role the solution out campus wide, which makes the idea of having lots of custom solutio...

Re: IT ticketing software

Yeah I think we are trying to avoid a homebaked or open source solution. In the past, when people move on it becomes an issue. Documentation is also tough to keep up to date. I don't know if it's totally out of the question, but I think they want to go with a pre built solution that would work acros...

Is there an API for ticket creation? Does it interface with hangouts, email, or slack? Is there any sms functionality?

IT ticketing software

Does anyone have anything they are happy with in their workplace? We have folks using team dynamix and they don't like it at all. It's more of a project manager solution with ticketing on the side. We are looking to pilot a new system that will work well across campus but the only one I've heard goo...

Didn't know this was today. Oops. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to drink some high life and pretend it's fancy.

They don't even sell my favorite beer here. :(

Ommegang Hennepin

They used to distribute it here.but not anymore.

Re: New system... I guess

Yeah i was hoping to milk my 3570k and gtx 780 longer... but with how many cards it burned out, the dead PCIE port, and my wonky main SSD, i figured itd be safer to just buy a new setup. I'm just going to dedicate my old, gpu-less machine to be my secondary monitor (i'll just use synergy to streamli...

Re: New system... I guess

Bummer... Turns out that they track the original warranty of the first card I sent in and the warranty only applied to that (the warranty ended, according to them, on Nov '16 which corresponds to my original card). I guess I understand, i wasn't sure if the warranty applied to the purchase or the ma...

Re: New system... I guess

If I read that list right, the memory I already have on that wishlist (F4-3200C14D-16GFX) is Samsung b die. Newegg reviews say it runs at 3200 with some minor adjustments. I'm crossing my fingers for an RMA though. That 1080ti is expensive but it seems far and away better than the 1080. I could prob...

Re: New system... I guess

Update on the GPU: Blown caps. looks like two, maybe three are toast. These are the same ones that blow on other folks GTX 780s, so I'm guessing it's a card issue. Either way, I'll buy a new PSU for the next rig. Edit: I just noticed this card has a manufacture date of november 2014, which puts it i...

Re: New system... I guess

Yeah if there is a sweet spot for ram on ryzen, I'm fine with that. I would rather have a dimms that were low maintenance and at the sweet spot than have to tinker often for an extra 2% gain. Is there any situation that ECC would even be useful for desktop use? My 830 just acts like it's seeking... ...

Re: New system... I guess

I'm currently thinking that a 256GB NVMe 960EVO makes the most sense as an OS drive. The half terabyte version is just $100 more than the quarter terabyte drive. It sounds like a new PSU is in order, so look for sales on 80+ Gold or better and check it's not a dud against Jonnyguru 's reviews. Cors...

Thank you for a the input. :) I'll have to think on it a few days. I have three ssds.1 TB, 512gb, and and old 240gb samsung 830 that is starting to behave a little funny. I should probably take the opportunity to upgrade that 830, as is my OS drive. So far, ue4 and the lighting compiler doesn't seem...

I'm in a somewhat similar boat as you. GTX 780 and 3570k.

PUBG doesn't seem to tax it too much, but there are definitely frame drops at times. I run most settings at the lowest...

Re: Just lost my cat Zoe

It's why dogs are adapted to gain nutrition from grains while cats are still obligate predators (i.e. WE NEED MEAT, or, at least, certain amino acids in our kibble). Could've fooled me, with the single-mindedness both of our dogs have gone after anything that moves. Birds, rabbits, squirrels, chipm...

Had to put the family dog down a few years ago. I cried like a baby on the phone with my mom for about an hour. I called to comfort her and she ended up comforting me. It's hard to know how much some things mean to us until we lose them. Have a pint and be happy to look forward to the next thing you...

Raid 1 Setup

Hey Gerbils, I've actually never done a raid setup in the 20 years I've been building machines. I recently started working on an Unreal Engine project that I recognize the important of daily (or more!) backups with a real file history. I've already had a few scary moments with corrupted projects. I ...

When i want to cut back on drinking beer, i just switch to carbonated water. I used to use a Soda Stream but the refills are expensive. I use my kegging setup now and just make carbonated water and then add some essential oil (grapefruit or lime) or sometimes even tea. It just helps to have somethin...

Am I the only person who really wants an RTS that ditches the gimmicks, supports modding and steam workshop, has a tile editor, and doesn't focus on MLG mechanics? I guess I just want red alert 3 that isn't garbage. Ra2 limps along in Windows 10. Most of the new RTS games seem to have some gimmick o...

I was actually kinda thinking the same thing when I was looking for PSU reviews. Anandtech had me covered, but I would prefer to stick with TR. Ah this is good stuff. I'm really excited for the next season of the expanse. There were so many moments in it that made me appreciate the difficulties of a scrappy space life and culture. Also, some of the actor choices were on point. I feel like it's harder to appreciate movies in this era of TV. ...

Re: So, this new Star Wars movie - Spoiler Lock Lifted

Hmm, 35 years ago in the fraternity house TV room, I thought nothing of watching the same movie (given early cable, it was ANH, Animal House, or Heavy Metal) 5-6 times in a row if that's the best the cable company could do.  It's why I know the continuity errors in ANH by heart.  Today, though?  I ...

Yeah, I'm one of that crowd.  Years later and I still get annoyed that one got canned. I'd be ok with the next Star Trek show being something more along the vein of Firefly. A post federation crew, trying to hold on to federation values, but forced into rock/hard place situations that most star tre...
