Re: Samsung C24FG70—best monitor, worst support

I'm planning on purchasing a new monitor in the next few months and the Samsung C27FG70 was on my list. It was low on the list because of the low 1920x1080 resolution for a 27 inch monitor. I'm looking for one with 2560x1440 resolution and Freesync like the Asus MG278Q, 279Q or Nixeus EDG 27. The Sa...

Re: Not a good time to build a new PC?

I'm not in a hurry. If I wait 6-9 more months and my new PC is getting 2-3 more years lifespan, I'll wait for that. Don't wait! Build it now! If you keep waiting for the NEXT BIG THING to come out, then you will never build anything. Yes, there are rumors the GTX 1080 may be released this summer bu...

Re: New to PC's -- Friend wants to build me a "Beast" machin

Here's a list of parts if you want to build an AMD system. I just built this one in November and it works great. Total cost: $1,328. Case: Antec DF-35 Dark Fleet (I had some problems with this. See alternatives below.) Power: Antec High Current Gamer 620 watt CPU: Phenom II X6 1100T 3.3 GHz Cooler: ...

Re: Finally a 4K monitor

Maybe someone at AMD can talk to the screen manufacturers and get them to produce monitors for Eyefinity. Without bezels in the middle! I'm talking resolutions of 5760x1080 (3 landscape) or 3240x1920 (3 in portrait) or 5760x3240 (3 on top, 3 on bottom). Samsung's MD230 models came close but they sti...

Re: Need New Speakers

Several people have mentioned the M-Audio AV40 speakers. I have 2 pairs of them and they sound really good. I use one pair for my computer and the other with my television. Sometimes I combine the 2 with a set of Creative T20 speakers for surround sound with my computer for games or with my TV for m...

Re: DoubleSight DS-277W from Walmart?

What's R&P? Rants and politics? Here's my wishlist for my next monitor: - 24 to 30 inches - IPS panel (or really good TN) - $300 to $400 - 120 Hz - Adjustable height, tilt and rotate - Thin bezels (just in case I want 2 more for an Eyefinity setup) - 4 port USB hub - 1920 x 1200 res or higher - ...

Re: DoubleSight DS-277W from Walmart?

I always feel like I need a shower after we go there. Take some hand sanitizer and use it every 5 minutes. I don't hate Walmart because of their cleanliness. I boycott them because of their business policies and practices. Half of China would be unemployed if Walmart shut down... Ok that's an...

Re: DoubleSight DS-277W from Walmart?

*Anything* but dead center when looking at a TN panel introduces color / brightness shift. You may have an older LCD because I haven't noticed significant color/brightness shifting. Of course I don't lean back in my chair and put my feet up on the desk. I'm not at home right now so I can't try that...

Here is a description I found of Flaming Cliffs 2. Modern Air Battle Combat evolves to new realism for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 2 is a further evolution of LockOn: Flaming Cliffs. In Flaming Cliffs 2, all of the player-controlled aircraft available in Flaming Cl...

Re: Good simulator games for the PC?

Lock On: Air Combat Simulation is the original version. There was an expansion called "Flaming Cliffs" that included the SU-25T, a more advanced version of the Frogfoot. About 3 years ago Eagle Dynamics and The Fighter Collection released "DCS: Black Shark" which added the Russia...

Re: Good simulator games for the PC?

There are some flight sims out there, but they are few and far between. Here are some suggestions. - Lock On: Platinum - This game is about 5 years old but the graphics are really good. You can fly the F-15C, A-10, Mig-29, Su-27 and Su-25. I have seen it on the shelf at Best Buy for $20 and it's ava...

Re: Xonar DS3D GX 2.0 problems - Battlefield 2

Well, I download and install Vista updates when they become available. But I downloaded and tried to install SP1 a couple of weeks ago. It would not install because of some corrupted file and I haven't taken the time to find out which file it is and fix it. I thought about reformatting and installin...

Xonar DS3D GX 2.0 problems - Battlefield 2

Does anyone have an Asus Xonar DX card? Or a D2X or a D2? Some background... I installed the Xonar DX card last week and I've mostly been playing Battlefield 2 and using Winamp. I bought the Xonar card because I was using the onboard audio (which has no EAX effects). I am getting some weird results ...
