Re: Budget PSU suggestions

The bundled PSUs in Rosewill cases may be lightweight/light duty types with no PFC and less than 80% efficiency (no such claims in Newegg specs.) Those PSUs may be good enough for light duty home PC use but their reliability for continuous office use may be iffy. I have a good experience with Season...

Your budget is good enough for refurbished monitors. You might want to check them out here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007617%204025&IsNodeId=1&name=%2425%20-%20%2450

i am wondering if the h67 motherboard will support a ivy bridge cpu

I believe it is the newer H77 chipset that supports 3rd generation Intel Core processors (Code-Ivy Bridge).

Re: Monitor Blackout Problem

I just noticed that we basically have a quite similar Core 2 platform (assuming it is still the one on your signature). I have gone through a number of Nvidia and Radeon cards on it and I have the HD 6870 on it right now. I have never encountered the problem you posted. Have you tried updating your ...

Re: Is their room for Overclocking on my PC?

Your E4500 definitely has overclocking headroom. However, it depends on your motherboard. Proprietary and most Intel mobos have no overclocking options in BIOS. Please post mobo make and model. And also read more on overclocking; http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/13815 Even your 8600GT can be ove...

Kwajelein was a US missile testing facility. They may have use some good/reconditioned missile launching hardware to bring the cost down. And there could be lots of mothballed missile launching hardware in the former USSR that could also be tapped by the private sector for satellite launching.

Re: First overclock ended in Problems can you help?

What do you think has happened have I damaged my new motherboard or CPU? Since your PC is still booting and running (though apparently slow), motherboard and processor are generally ok. Things that I would check in your situation: 1. In BIOS, make sure that RAM speed is back to default (SPD or Auto...

Re: Too Close to Call...

Compaq put a decent enough PSU in that system. It will be fine. The Chief engineer is right. The SR1950NX, with just integrated graphics will never hit 150W on the wall socket. 9600GT will just draw about 61W during gaming. My guess is that your friend's PC, when graphics is upgraded, will just dra...

Re: P180 fan noise problem

Inspect the fan blades for a possible small crack. A slightly cracked blade could be causing a bit of wobble at low speed and hitting the housing. As speed picks up, wobble gets minimal and the noise goes away. If the fan blade is confirmed damage or have imperfections. better have it replaced.

Try SPD tab in CPUZ to verify if all the sticks are recognized in Windows.

Does anyone know if there is an am2 micro atx board with optical audio input onboard? Re: Think my PSU is busted ?

Well thats almost too easy :) Assume it wont wipe my bios itself, just the settings ? Just the settings. That's right, it is really the CMOS settings in BIOS that you can easily change/reset and NOT the BIOS itself. Quickest setting is the "Fail-safe-defaults". Then you can tweak from the...

Karz, bear in mind that just like you can overclock the GT, you can also boost the GTX, so it remains on top by a healthy margin, all avenues considered.

Yeah, right. Since 9800GT is just the stripped version, it would never really catch up with the real thing which is the 9800GTX.

Re: Motherboard with no VGA, how does it work?

The only test you can do with a partial build that has no integrated graphics or a discrete video card is w/ the error beeps. The build should give the video card error beeps (like 1 long & short beeps). It would at least indicate that everything is generally working, thus detecting NO video car...

9800GT is just a stripped down version of the 9800GTX. Your 9800 GTX is still the better performer. However, an overclocked 9800GT performs quite close to the GTX. Here's one review: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/gigabyte_9800gt/6.htm
