Re: PC Issue - turning off after startup

Thanks. my CPU is an Intel i3-4330. Will have to wait a bit for the upgrade tho... have been unemployed quite a while. Hey, maybe it's overuse - wouldn't be on the computer so much if I had a job!!!

PC Issue - turning off after startup

My last 2 custom builds have lasted 7 years. My current PC is about 4-and-a-half years old and has recently started turning off 5-10 seconds after I power on BUT will stay on all day if I immediately turn it back on. Have given it a thorough clean with the air duster and unplugged unnecessary periph...

Men's Pole Vault final was the stuff dreams are made of, and the tension in the men's Keirin final was unbelievable after it had to be restarted twice.

Re: Did I screw up getting the GTX 970 last year?

I put together my most recent build in July 2014, and it was 6 months before any next-gen components were released. I'm very happy with my i3-4330 and 750Ti, and don't plan to upgrade until it bites the dust... my last machine lasted 7 years.

He's not really up on the latest hardware though, so asked me for advice. I've seen an absolute steal on an overclocked 960 (150 GBP, only 40 more than mine), so will do that. Cheers!

If you've only got $500 you'll struggle to play the latest games. If you could go back in time and build a PC purely for the games of that era, what spec would you choose?

Just a quick Q

I'm putting together an uber cheap PC for my younger bro, as he likes his OLD PC games (he uses his xbox for anything modern). Saving money, i'm giving him my old GeForce 8800 GTS. What power supply should i get? Since the card is 6 years old, you'd presume it wouldn't need to be that beefy. but the...

Re: Where do You See Hardware in 2-4 years?

Am I weird that I don't see the point in upgrading a PC for at least 6 years? My 1st custom build lasted just shy of 7 before the mobo gave up (although I'd donated it to my parents 3 years prior). Now I think hardware is advancing quicker than the software can keep up. Anyway. Like Techreport said ...

What's the next step for graphics?

Forgive my ignorance, but as a PC gamer in my 30s, i've experienced what I think have been the 3 "stages" of gaming graphics. The DOS era, 3D graphics up to DX9, and the present. However, there doesn't seem to have been much progress in this area (in my mind) since the advent of PCIe graph...
