Re: GeForce GTX 980 with GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366

That is kind of what I was thinking; primary use for this machine during the day is Visual Studio, 3DS Max, Blender, SQL Server and other general development type tasks but at night I tend to game with friends. I noticed I am well below the recommended and as such have not yet gotten FarCry 4, Evolv...

GeForce GTX 980 with GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366

Hello everyone it has been a good few years since I have posted here and I am a little out of the hardware loop at the moment. I have a X58 based system (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128362) with 12 GB RAM, and a i7 920 installed with two GTX 285; its starting to get a bi...

Re: Nvidia GPU of Choice

When I am doing something graphics intensive on each screen it splits out the processing; for example I can be doing 3d rendering off of one GPU running the monitor to one side while using visual studio and photoshop on the other to modify the renders. Most importantly at least to me I have a very s...

Re: Nvidia GPU of Choice

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. I guess I should have been more clear as far as the two GTX 285's are concerned. I do not run them in SLI; since I primarily use this computer as workstation and a gaming box as a second function I find having a dedicated card for each monitor to be more ben...

Nvidia GPU of Choice

I am getting ready to build another computer, this one primarily for gaming. My currenty workstation is running a pair of GTX 285, I want something with at least preformance parity with those card for the gaming box. What card would serve me best of the new line the 460, 470 or perhaps the 480? I am...

60GB (320GB now that I have swapped the drive) launch unit here and everything is still working well even after the FW update. I do get quite nervous about it though, since they don't make them like my launch unit anymore.

Re: Do you game with your significant other? (poll reset)

My SO will ocassionaly play games. We play Ultimate Alliance on the PS3 together (still have not finished it, really streching it out apparently), LBP which we also have still not finished. She plays Cooking Mama on the Wii and Fallout 3 on PS3 on her own. We ocassionally also play Diablo 1 or Diabl...

You could try using the libraries feature of Windows 7 to contain all of your code folders. Thats the first things that poped into my head.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

After playing for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours last night my thoughts so far are: • It gets better once you finally get the crystal level up system unlocked along with paragrim shift; I was getting really bored with things up until that point. • I am not sure I like only controlling only one character, FF...

Re: 4 player single screen games for PS3?

Warhawk allows for 4 player offline, and you to join games with up to 28 others online. CoD4:MW1, CoD6:MW2. I think R2 supports 4 but I would have to confirm this one, Resistance 1 does (deathmatch). IIRC post the titan patch UT3 also supports 4 player split screen (non campaign).

Re: Lossless Music Archive Format

Any particular reason? Being open source I am worried it might go out of favor and become an abandonded format at some point. Then I am stuck with a lossless archive which is not well supported.

Lossless Music Archive Format

I am getting ready to re-rip my entire CD collection to a lossless format for archive. I plan to keep a lossless version of all of my music and transcode down to MP3 or WMA from that when I am taking any of the music with me on a portable device. The big question is what is the most solid and steady...

Amazon.com exclusively. I disagree with many of Gamestops practices and will not support them with my purchases.

Re: Positive Playstation 3 Talk and Q/A

I got GoW Collection from my wife today. I put in about an hour or so while my daughter napped (I beat the Hydra) and then we had to get ready and go to my mom's. I knew that the game was rated M and that it would be a super-violent but I wasn't quite prepared. I'm not complaining; just haven't pla...

Re: Present ~ $100 to ask the inlaws for? Suggestions please

Amazon.com gift card(s). This is my default answer for most people because they can feel like they got me something without just asking for money and I can tend to get whatever book, CD, blu-ray or computer component I want from Amazon. Newegg certificates are a good choice as well but you are a bit...

Scorpiuscat, what version of Windows 7 are they handing out at the event? Is it the 32 bit or 64 bit version? I went to the Vista launch event where they gave us all Vista Ultimate 32 bit version, free is free but would be nice if they were giving out 64 bit versions. :D

I have the Orange Box for PS3 and I loved portal, the frame rate did not bother me in that one either. I played some team fortress 2 but I don't see what everyone likes about that game so much. If I want a shooter with classes now days I will pop Killzone 2 back in. I tried the first Half-Life Episo...

I was hoping for a free-to-play like guild wars. I have no problem with paying for the game its self, but a monthly fee on top of that is just insult to injury.

InFamous is great, when I am not job hunting I can't put the game down. I think I am closing in on the end of the game and I am disappointed it will be over, I may play it again as Evil. InFamous is great over the top superhero/supervillan fun. :D
