Haswell C6/C7 PSU compatibility

There was quite a lot of buzz about it during Haswell release. Since I was an early adopter I had no time to check it properly. Now I can confirm that my PSU - Corsair CX430M - is definetly not compatible. I kept C6 and C7 enabled for over a month. During that time I experienced random segfaults in ...

Re: I don't use WASD -- do you?

Years ago when we were playing Quake II all nights my friend sold me his secret: lay down your hand comfortably on keyboard and bind the keys your fingers lay on. I got RFEG with pinky on A. This way my wirst lays straight and I dont need to twist any finger. Suddenly my frag count jumped up keeping...

I have i5-4670 at stock speed with stock cooler and it runs with exactly the same temps as yours - 29 to 72 C.

Ordering Haswell today

My pc is over 6 yrs old and I planned to upgrade it this year. I wanted to do it later, when all the dust settles, all quirks known and patched etc., and maybe get some nice deal on the back-to-school season. But my mobo died 2 days ago leaving me as an early adopter. Oh well. So I have chosen: &sdo...

Re: quadruple pixels in xorg

I have nvidia drivers v304.64 and the drivers control panel does not allow such configuration. It does not even have option to force GPU scaling anymore.

quadruple pixels in xorg

Stupid question early in the morning. Is it possible to quadruple pixels using only xorg settings? I have a panel with native resolution of 1280x1024. I want to run xorg at quarter of that, 640x512, but with each pixel rendered as four pixels so the panel stays at its native resolution. Is it possib...

Re: When a right-click isn't a right-click

this mouse is an old Microsoft ball mouse, but it never exhibited this behavior in WinXP, so I doubt it's the source of the fault It could be autodetecting the wrong mouse protocol in Linux and getting it right in XP... the ability to install random little programs however I'd like. Linux has that,...

Re: When a right-click isn't a right-click

I also noticed this issue. When firefox is very busy (eg. opened lots of tabs with pages full of flash) when right-click on a link pop-up menu doesn't show, instead firefox activates element of menu that should be under cursor if menu was shown - this gives effect of "random" pop-up menu a...

Re: Home HDD "Farm"

10 onboard sata: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DQ6, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128343 Doesn't need a powerful CPU (E5x00), but you would need a quality PSU, HDD's have the potential to draw 20-25 watts each so I'd say you'd be safe with a 650W PSU. edit: it also has QUAD LAN :D All...

Re: Anyone seen that keyboard?

Here ya go... Thanks, this is great! It has the necessary layout. I especially liked insert and delete keys at the bottom, near arrow keys - here i can replace keycaps, remap the keyboard and voila! Left windows key is also not a problem, a bit of sandpaper and left windows key turns into blank lef...

Anyone seen that keyboard?

My favourite keyboard is dead.

Unfortunately it is a very old, no name part. Model number CSK-7101N gives nothing on google. Anyone seen a keyboard with exactly the same layout ? For me this layout is simply amazing.

Re: Getting serious about UNIX

First: try to install something much harder than Ubuntu - LFS would be best if You want to learn everything from the basics. Second: when You install it, use it as your primary OS - don't fallback to other OS, if You have to do something, do it in Linux. I must warn You, to follow my advices You mus...
