I would suggest looking at the advanced settings of your router, apparently newer ones have this feature built in.

I would say the most likely thing is that your 120 GB is almost filled up and that is slowing things down a little, how much free space do you have?

I just assembled my new rig: i5 4590 GTX 760 4 GB Crucial 480 GB SSD Cooler master hyper 212 plus case: fractal r4 Os: Windows 7 The fractal case is very quiet. Even under load it is barely audible. I highly recommend this case. I ended up using the intel heatsink because my cooler master was missin...

Re: One little screw

I checked thoroughly but i did this build one step at a time so i noticed as soon as i pulled the first screw out of the bag.

Thanks for the advice though. I do wish that more manufacturers would take a tiny hit on profits and offer an extra screw just in case.

Mid-Range Gaming Build

Hey Gerbils. I first joined these forums almost 6 years ago because I was building my own computer for the first time. I think I did okay but this time I am hoping to do a much better job. Any advice would be welcome. Main concerns: I need an awesome case since last time I bought a terrible one. Qui...

Re: GOG.com Winter Sale special "gift" offers

It would be interesting to know how many people buy a random game just because it is on sale. I personally wont buy anything thats not on my wishlist... because well, those are all the games that I want. If they made a random coupon for something on my wishlist... now that would lead to lots of sale...

I personally think that its still too early to invest in XFire/SLI, even as a cheap upgrade. I think in 6-12 months we can be confident that the problem is fully resolved. Keep in mind that super high resolutions is broken right now with 2 cards. http://techreport.com/blog/25399/here-why-the-crossfi...

Dear Diary, As you know, I have been part of a massive botnet for quite some time now. Between DDOS attacks and emailing spam to every hotmail account in existence, I have been pretty busy. Re: Buying a new Graphics Card

I think the only reason to get more than 2 GB on a graphics card is if you are using texture mods for your games. Like Skyrim can reach 3+ GB of VRAM usage if you load in a bunch of mods. If you play lots of FPS games I think most or all of them get fan-made texture packs so it may actually be worth...

Re: Games for girls

I don't think you should worry about games being "too boyish" From what I have seen, most of the pink and sparkly games suck. I'll avoid a rant about brainwashing children. Many games aimed at kids have both a boy and a girl character. I think that point & click adventure games were th...

Re: Vanished 10gb of ssd space

I use this program called WinDirStat which maps out your hard drive and shows you which folders are taking up the most space. You can look for a similar visual directory browser or use that one to quickly track down the issue.

There are other versions for other OSes too.

Re: anyone else's builds considered overkill?

For my first build, I spent around $1500 and this computer will have lasted me 4 years. I can still carry over about $300 worth of components over to the next computer if I want to throw away my current set up. I think in the future it makes more sense to build cheaper computers, around $700 and upg...

Depending on what you need, hover.com will let you get a domain + privacy for $15 but they don't offer other services. I use godaddy for the free webhosting, its cheaper than paying $2/mo or whatever you can find elsewhere. In any case, you should google for coupon codes with whatever service you en...

I put multi-threading into my game because I wanted the UI to be responsive while stuff goes on in the background. So for example, I put the music and sound effects in their own threads. Turning a self-contained piece of code into a thread is extremely easy, I think you should at least try it? I don...

Re: Just built my first PC but it wont turn on!

Well the connector from the case's power button to the motherboard could be plugged in wrong. Does your motherboard have a light? Mine has one so its easy to tell if its getting power from the PSU. Sometimes just switching on the psu will send a little juice through the system and spin the fans but ...

Re: Help needed asap, my computer died suddenly, can't turn

You probably moved your computer from the TV room to another area/power outlet. Maybe this new power outlet has problems and fried your PSU/Mobo, are you using a good surge protector? This is probably not the problem... but if you are going to test the components, I suggest moving the computer back ...

I just write it myself. Theres plenty of free references for HTML and Javascript widgets.

I think it is silly that there isn't a comprehensive drag and drop editor for webpages... Is it really that hard to dynamically generate CSS?
