Re: What are you playing right now?

Guild Wars II is good for scratching that solo or play-with-friends MMO itch without fast forwarding a month to realize that it's 3PM on Sunday and you're still in your boxers due to deprioritization of anything that doesn't increment numbers. It's also the best leveling experience I've seen in any ...

Re: What are you playing right now?

There have been twelve seasons of Diablo 3 RoS. For the second time ever, I completed enough of the season journey to get the extra stash tab, and for the first time ever I completely cleared the season journey. I got my HoTA/IK Barbarian to GR level 82 and amassed a total of 568 paragon levels. Pl...

Re: What are you playing right now?

I'm playing good old new Doom. It's really fun. This is my best game of 2010-2020 so far. It's just pure, unadulterated fun. No levels, no gear, no unlocks...just FPS goodness. A lot of games these days try and trap you in their reward systems ("Okay, I need to level up 5 more times to unlock ...

Re: What are you playing right now?

I saw so many good reviews that I bough Darkest Dungeon. It's a very unique game. Enjoying so far. Kickstarter is having some pretty good results from time to time. One wonders if these games would ever have seen the light of day without it. I enjoyed Darkest Dungeon and it kept me busy for a few w...

For $30-40 you can get a simple PCIe card that will support up to 4K resolution, which is a reasonable stopgap measure (e.g. GT710). Used on ebay or a forum you can probably snag one even cheaper. :)

Re: LG 27UD59P-B 4K, IPS, FreeSync on sale for $275

Honestly, your best bet would be to pick up 2 monitors. You can get a 22" 1080p monitor for under $100 these days. You can only game on one at a time, but your GPU can probably handle it fine. 2 of those is still cheaper than $275 for something your computer can handle now without scaling. Exa...

4K really seems like a waste at 27". You're inviting scaling issues in legacy apps and making gaming dependent on a $800 GPU investment.

Try out a 2560x1440 display and be blown away!

FFS NVidia, either start working with your partners to release a similar scope of GSync displays or throw in the towel and let me use my 1080Ti with the latest tech. The main problem with Freesync vs GSync is that Freesync as a check-box feature means that it is added to all sorts of crappy display...

Re: Apple Dumps Intel: CONFIRMED!

Where I stand for those that are confused: Apple's SoC designs kick ass. It makes sense for them to push them out to all of their products ASAP. Intel's desktop designs kick ass. It makes sense for them to storm the smartphone market and take it over with low-power variants of hex-core Coffee Lake....

Re: Apple Dumps Intel: CONFIRMED!

The most likely outcome from this is that Apple kills off its "pro" and "prosumer" Mac Hardware and sells everyone who is left "good enough" arm SKUs. Apple has demonstrated little interest in their demanding users or keeping their tech up-to-date outside of phones.

Lenovo Ideapad 720S 15: Gaming in a Business Suit

Today I’m writing a mini-review of Lenovo’s new(ish) Ideapad 720S 15. This laptop has flown almost entirely under the radar – no Lenovo Yoga-esque marketing campaign, no plethora of tech site reviews, et cetera – but could be a worthy contender for your next notebook purchase. My selection criteria ...

$100 a month seems foolhardy, as you're probably going to end up with a ton of cheap carbs and few fresh veggies or fruits. Extra discretionary income isn't worth mortgaging your health.

As a recent Pixel 2 buyer, I feel your pain. Bluetooth never sounds as good as a modest set of 3.5mm earbuds, and having to keep two devices charged is a royal pain.

I would have bought a OP5T in a heartbeat if they were compatible with Verizon's network.

You'd probably be better off returning that 3440x1440 monitor for a 27" 1440P FreeSync gaming monitor and 27" 1440P office monitor. Better gaming features, more productivity space, and fewer pixels to drive. I've tried a 3440x1440 screen with a 580-class card, and it's a pretty miserable e...

I enjoyed Episode VIII immensely more than Episode VII, even though the latter was flawed. I didn't find the direction Luke was taken in as satisfying as the possibility of him flexing his Jedi muscles, but it was a logical extension of a story line where he hid instead of opposing the First Order. ...
