Re: Bulldozer fail prediction by AMD Staff

bapco is run by intel and anything intel says is always a load of BS
now, bulldozer might suck, I hope not, but reality is harsh and I really don't think AMD was hiding an Ace up their sleeve last year when they were slammed with sandy bridge.
as long as we get on par performance I am ok with that.

Re: Bulldozer Build...?

The demand a certain game puts upon a system doesn't involve any kind of opinion, so I'm really not sure what you're getting at. if you already know what game you want to play and you already know the minimum specs required then why make a topic asking for advice? obviously, you want to know other ...

I will share it with him after others have had a chance to reply
so don't let me stop you from taking the time to give him some advice

what is the current computer you have right now, I would like to know.
and what game are you playing currently.

the first 'expensive' card I bought was a Radeon 9800 SE
before that I just used geforce whatever, the store would install cheap with my ECS motherboard

Re: Do I have any hardware conflicts in this pc?

how about a nice SSD too?

this one is on sale, though it is not my favorite model Crucial M4

if you are tight on money, I would get a cheaper CPU heatsink
you can also save money on slower memory, but in the current market probably not worth it since its only a few dollars

Re: Just bought an SSD

in my opinion, intel's motherboards are a handful you need to know any sandforce controlled SSD may have issues with intel's RST 10 drivers (raid) the other thing you need to know there is an issue with the firmware on the OCZ 3 series and intel boards, so if you have the firmware 2.02 you might wan...

the best cheap and efficient cooler for AMD is a cooler master hyper 212+ I dont want to throw a wrench at you, this is just my opinion, with the low price of a 955 I can't recommend you get an X2. I used to recommend them but in the current market for 114$ a 4 core is easily attainable. sure, you c...

Re: leave pc on or shut it off?

shut it down
if you have a reason to leave it on that's fine
some people leave their computers on for work reasons or for file swapping and printer sharing
it's not necessarily bad for your computer, but when you go to bed do you leave your TV and lights on in the house?

Re: ssd help

Hello rambo only a mechanical hard drive needs a cache an SSD does not really need to use a cache since it writes fast to the drive an SSD will probably last close to 5 years if you do not abuse it by filling it full and erasing the drive every month most SSDs have a 3 year warranty I dont know much...

Re: Can Memtest86 be wrong with the new Z68 chipset?

yes, what I am saying is that 1866 is the overclock settings it is very common for memory manufacturers to take good 1600 speed RAM and sell them at higher rated speeds this causes SPD errors sometimes so you need to set the voltage, and set the timings and multiplier manually if you want to run 186...

Re: Can Memtest86 be wrong with the new Z68 chipset?

probably just a brand compatibility issue or you have a bad overclock many motherboards and memory have incorrect spd issues, that are set lower on default on purpose if it is recommended to run at 1.5v you should run it at that or higher it may seem like a good idea to undervolt memory but it is ac...
