Re: System guide soon to be two years old.

I came looking for the reliable System Guide. My Phenom II X4 B50 is looking a bit old... *8') Wonder what happened to this site. Its kind of all over the place these days. The news feed here was one of the best in the internet and its become one of the worst. Whenever they do reviews they are good...

Re: 40" 4K Monitor/dispaly/TV

Dont forget at Black Friday, you'll see ALOT of one off models that are basically Black Friday only SKU's. So it could be few and far between on support and recommended settings on them. I know that, part numbers are important shopping electronics for black friday... basically all electronics. Even...

Ok, I see that and raise this question:
http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-43UJ6300-4k-uhd-tv

Its an IPS panel, 60 hz, not sure where you can look up latency... Else its a good looking screen I've seen them in person.

40" 4K Monitor/dispaly/TV

So I have a way over priced Dell 30" 2K montior I got for $1,300 right before leaving engineering and design fields behind for sales. I want to bring that monitor to my office and get a new decent looking 4K 40" display, monitor or TV for home computer use. Can you guys make any recommenda...

Re: DOTA 2 Sucks?

I think the biggest remaining criticism of DOTA and it becomes more apparent after each major update... is the learning curve.  More over how poorly Valve supplements people with BASIC strategy, tactics and mechanics. I vehemently disagree.  The worst part of DOTA 2 is the people who play DOTA 2, a...

I'm at over 300 hours so figured I'd drop an update.   I found that unfair and hard are about the same difficulty.  The biggest challenge in the game is the friendly AI, regardless of difficulty speaking of comp stomps.  Even with the new super update they will get stuck in the base, or looping at r...

Re: 4K, how is this going to work???

The more I learn about OLED, the more incredible it sounds. It just wins in every way. But ... if longevity and color shift remain issues ... are any of you willing to invest in it? I know I'm not. And with all the research dollars thrown at this, I'm sure if there were an easy solution, it would h...

Re: 4K, how is this going to work???

This feels off-topic since we've been geeking out on UHD Blu-ray, etc., but it's true to the title of the thread: I'm picking out displays for the conference rooms here at work. I'm considering up to 84" for the largest room, with a ten seat conference table. My fears: - 1080p will be too low ...

There is two forces at play here. The crime of the hack which is a crime. But then there's the karmic fallout. One reaping what one has sowed and that whole bit. For commissioned people, adultery can be an offense and prosecuted in some cases. The uniformed guys here would have a better idea of the...

Re: 4K, how is this going to work???

Best monitor possible would be a ultra wide with the vertical 2160 4K standard pixel ratio. Rather than the 2K 1440 vertical that is in all sets now. That would get us something akin to 6K in terms of total pixels, with a monitor that could fit a standard 4K image and embrace the wider format at the...

From DP website: Will DisplayPort 1.3 enable further performance enhancements to 4K UHD displays? Yes, when including the new HBR3 link rate option, DisplayPort 1.3 will enable a 4K UHD display to operate at a 120Hz refresh rate using 24-bit pixels, or a 96Hz refresh rate using 30-bit pixels. ... Re: 4K, how is this going to work???

I'm amazed how much Blur ray is lagging from a production side. HDMI 2.0 is barely on any 4K TV on the shelf this past fall. Simply amazing. Beyond that no Stereo receivers have it still. Forget content, who cares about content when the hardware can't even drive a proper 4K signal. What a joke. Also...

Re: 4k or Curved Ultrawide?

Form factor wise the darn 21:9 aspect ratio and curve is perfect but panel wise it is antiquated. I'm basically spectating and waiting for the 4K equivalent (will actually be 5K res, with a 4K vertical pixel number). I would like to hold out for a 40" 21:9 monitor too.

Re: 4K, how is this going to work???

I need to test some 1080p streaming now that I'm on 50 Mbit fiber. Admittedly, I never use it for a variety of reasons: 1.) the kids/wife use it pretty much exclusively, so I leave it alone; 2.) I came to force myself to limit streaming long ago, believing that my ISP would follow suit with others ...

Re: 4K, how is this going to work???

I didn't think to mention streaming, as I have not tried any 4K streaming due to the lack of a 4K display. :) For once in my life, I have the bandwidth for it, too. Our little ISP (local telephone coop) recently upgraded everyone on fiber to 50 Mbit as the minimum! I'm not sure how much of the bell...

Re: So what are you using for computer audio?

My tower is running 7.1 through a dedicated onkyo stereo system using HDMI, its the best most price effect option out there. If you have AMD it can be a little annoying to do it if your monitor resolution is over 1080p but if you are that res or below its not an issue for AMD. Nvidia drivers let you...
