Re: Will my 212 Evo on my i5-3570K fit on 6600K without new

Thanks for all the advice guys, but I guess my luck is turning. I took everything apart, cleaned it all up and dried it, and now everything seems to be working fine, I literally can't believe it. The only thing I lost is a case fan. I spent all day yesterday prospectively building my new system, and...

Re: Will my 212 Evo on my i5-3570K fit on 6600K without new

Nope not really sure at this point, will be taking a deeper look tonight, but if either the MB or CPU is shot it probably makes sense to upgrade them both right? I also think the Video Card is shot, it took a direct hit. Stupid old Antec P-182 case, glass bounced and then dumped right down the hole ...

Re: Will my 212 Evo on my i5-3570K fit on 6600K without new

Great thanks for the info guys. Sounds like it should work just fine, its performed great since I got it, I can't imagine I would buy anything different this go around if I did buy a new one. I know what you are saying on the skimping on the $30 part, but if its still fine I figure I might as well u...

Re: Will my 212 Evo on my i5-3570K fit on 6600K without new

Also same question for an i5-4960k? I haven't tore to deep into the system yet, if my 16 gigs of ddr3 is fine, it might make more financial sense to get that and a new board and reuse the RAM and CPU Cooler.

Will my 212 Evo on my i5-3570K fit on 6600K without new part

So you could say I had a bad night, I spilled a glass of wine into my system. Instant dead system. I know what your thinking, but I had even drank the wine yet, just clumsy. So I'm thinking i5-6600K to replace my i5-3570K, I'm assuming my cooler is still fine once I clean it and maybe replace one of...

Wireless PC Gaming headset that will work with Cell phone?

I have been trying to find this particular combination with no luck. I want a new Wireless PC gaming headset, but I also want it to work with my cell phone(S3) so I can listen to podcasts while wandering around the house. Any ideas would be great, budget is probably $100-$150 and I'm not looking for...

I just did a system rebuild and the first game I installed and tried to play was Skyrim. I realized in a couple minutes that I couldn't play it without this UI mod reinstalled. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863 I really like this map with Roads. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4929 And this HD ...

Re: Gathering info for future gaming build

1) Does this "Amazon credit" expire anytime soon. It sounds like a decent chunk of change, but I'd still suggest comparing prices on Amazon and Newegg before you buy (make sure to include any shipping at newegg). If the amazon credit can be used for other things, there's no reason to spen...

Re: How is my build

On your parts list you have microcenter for the CPU, that price is in store only. And if you do plan on going there you can get the 3570K for $189.99 plus $50 off the motherboard of your choice which ends up making it about the same price as the 3470 and motherboard.

Re: Budget 3570K Build advice

Looks like you did a great job! I got my system all put together and it really screams, I love the crazy fast boot up times off the ssd. The only game I have played is skyrim, and it looks great and is running ultra smooth. Make sure you get a recent ENB mod and a texture mod! It'll improve the loo...

Re: Budget 3570K Build advice

I actually have no use for the S/PDIF or an extra PCIe slot, where I actually have a couple of old PCI cards that I might end up using. I'm using a full size case so size isn't an issue. If that's the only reason then the Pro 3 is the clear winner for me, not to mention its $15 cheaper.

Re: Budget 3570K Build advice

I sure will, but why the pro 4 over the pro 3? There must be a difference that I'm not seeing, the only thing that jumps out is 2 vs 4 6gb Sata ports, and I can't ever see needing more than 2 anyway.

Re: Budget 3570K Build advice

So I originally said Microcenter was off the table, but I have to go out of town this week and will end up fairly close to one, so as long as the snow storm predicted isn't bad I will probably head over there. With there $189.99 3570K plus $50 off a motherboard, its pretty hard to pass that price up...

Re: Budget 3570K Build advice

THAT SAID , a 7770 is pretty underpowered for a Core i5 system. You'll be GPU-limited in everything, especially at 1080p. I wouldn't bother with a Core i5 if you're only going to have that GPU; a Core i3-3220 will serve you fine and still be miles faster than your current Phenom -- even in heavily ...

Re: Budget AMD Build thoughts

too bad TR didn't include the i3 in their article. That article really needs a refresh with Piledriver and Intel i3s. Especially so we can see the possible performance hits while multitasking. Sorry everyone, TR does have frame-latency comparisons including Piledriver FX (although just the 8350, th...

Re: AMD Stock, would you hold or sell?

Let's be very careful with this discussion as the SEC and State securities regulators do not take kindly to investment advice offered by unlicensed/unsupervised individuals. I would think as a hypothetical what would you do its not real investment advice, and no post has a single chance of changing...

AMD Stock, would you hold or sell?

The status of AMD seems to be a polarizing topic on these forums. So I thought this might be fun to see what people thought and their reasoning as to why. I have a small amount of these, I bought them on the cheap so I'm not overly concerned with either way with what happens, I should have sold a co...

Re: Budget AMD Build thoughts

So is everyone on board with the current 3470/7850 Build? Or is there a better combination I'm missing? Microcenter has a crazy good deal on the 3570K, but with gas, tolls, and almost 8% Sales tax it ends up being more expensive than just using Amazon or Newegg. Plus I'm assuming the 3470 will be st...

Re: Budget AMD Build thoughts

looks fine..... thankfully you didn't push that i3 on him, while AMD isn't great it was the better option at that level. I agree, I wouldn't go with the i3, but the 3470 looks like it should be quite a nice bump over most of the amd processors, unless someone can sell me on something amd that can k...

Re: Budget AMD Build thoughts

If you live in the US near a Microcenter you could get the best of both worlds by taking advantage of their CPU + mobo combos. Re: Budget AMD Build thoughts

So for the sake of Discussion, say I could swing him to the Intel side.

Would a more CPU heavy build with say a i5-3470 and a cheaper GPU like the 7770 be a better build for this type of game, rather than the amd quad core with a 2gb 7850?

Re: Budget AMD Build thoughts

If the CPU is more important in this type of game, wouldn't it make sense to go with the FX 6300 over the FX 4300, I'm assuming they are the same only 6 cores instead of 4, and its only $10 more.

Re: Budget AMD Build thoughts

ugh, I would seriously talk your friend into considering an I3 Intel build if he is going to game. For all the reasons Chrispy_ has stated , it's just a better performing platform than AMD now. Choosing an AMD build because of a Zalman cooler is sort of silly IMO, if only for the fact he could use ...
