Re: x299 won't POST - HELP!

I was able to get the machine to boot with a different CPU. What's weird is the first CPU posted a dead 00, and the second the AF, what's the likelihood of getting 2 bad CPUs??? Everything else in the system was consistent I checked this multiple times.

Re: x299 won't POST - HELP!

ok, tried the gigabyte pro AC gaming, and I got error code AF

I tried swapping DIMMs, clearing the bios, but I can't get any display to show up. I would try to flash the bios, but it doesn't POST at all.

anyone have any thoughts before I give up for good?

sigh... I had hit all the bios reset switches, trying one more board, then it's off to Ryzen for me!

Or maybe I say screw it and go coffee lake.

Re: x299 won't POST - HELP!

Check for damaged pins in the socket. Make sure you're not excessively tightening the bolts of the HSF or waterblock. Cooling solutions that are too tightly mounted can result in all sorts of weird problems from dead memory channels to failure to POST. These were both common failure points on X99. ...

Re: x299 won't POST - HELP!

Using the on switch on the boards, stripped them down to barebones at this point just trying to get a sign of life.

Haven’t tried with no CPUs yet, what’s flummoxing me is the fact that no combination of what I choose gets anything. Is it possible a bad board could have damaged both CPUs?

x299 won't POST - HELP!

Hey all, having some problems here and looking for some advice. I have hell getting my new x299 system to work. I have tried 2 motherboards, 2 processors, 3 power supplies, swapped DIMMs, and i get nothing. On one board, the fans don't spin up. On the other, the system power cycles, clicking on and ...

Re: ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9 LGA 2066 - good choice?

I've only had it up and running since the weekend, but no issues or concerns thus far. I hesitated on choosing this board or its cousin the Taichi (same board minus 10G NIC) due to the inclusion of only a single 8 pin CPU power connector and the best information I found indicated that none of the o...

Re: ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9 LGA 2066 - good choice?

I bought this exact board and a 7900x last week. Just got it up and running over the weekend, replaced an Asrock X99 board which had served me very well (read: no issues) during its lifespan. I've also used several Asrock mainstream boards (Z77-Z97) with no issues and good overclocking potential. I...

Re: ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9 LGA 2066 - good choice?

My choice of this board is largely based on this review: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/8288/asrock-fatal1ty-x299-pro-gaming-i9-motherboard-review/index11.html They mention the VRM cooling is very good, and the board is the only one with a N-Base T 10g controller that can also go 2.5 and 5. I hadn...

ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9 LGA 2066 - good choice?

Hey all, I'm looking for an x299 board, and from what I can tell the Asrock seems like the one with the best features/price. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157775&ignorebbr=1 I haven't had great experiences with Asrock products in the past, which gives me pause, I want...

Re: 2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T routers available when?

The router assigns the internal IP addresses, no? Doesn't all internal traffic pass through the router at some point? Wouldn't the slowest link in the chain constrict all traffic to that speed? Only internal traffic that needs to leave your local network is routed through your routers WAN port. Swi...

Re: 2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T routers available when?

Dunno about routers, but the ASUS XG-C100C that launched is a ~$100 10Gbps NIC. It also specifically supports 2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T links. Given ASUS already makes some 10GBASE-T switches I would tend to think that means ASUS will be launching some updated consumer routers within the year that pe...

Re: 2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T routers available when?

2.5 Gbps and 5 Gbps would actually be beneficial for me. My NAS can handle ~2 GB/s of writes (backups and whatnot) but instead, I have to wait *hours* for my desktop and my wife's desktop to back up due to the limitations of gigabit. That's my use case as well, I want to enable faster backups and f...

2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T routers available when?

I'm dying to replace my router, and would prefer to upgrade to the faster speed, anyone have any idea when we will start to see some actual products? It feels like a long time since this standard was announced.

Liking everything about it so far aside from a few niggles. Character creation is more limited. I know they did that on purpose to get your family to look alike, but I miss the vast customization, and the hair styles still suck. Having 3 powers at your disposal instead of 8 seems very limiting, espe...

I get the criticism for preorders, and go ahead and judge me, but I'm playing this game whether it's a 6/10 or 9.9/10. What if it's a 3/10? I have played 0 Bioware games that I would have considered to be less than 7/10, I can't imagine they would sh*t the bed that hard. They seem pretty good at ta...

Alright, convince me. Analyze the story and post findings. I'll assume the main area of interest is the last installment. So will confine to that. Tim Conway has been on utube for a long time telling a story on the old Carol Burnett show about a circus elephant and a dwarf have a sexual affair. Con...
