Re: R.I.P. Chris Cornell (SoundGarden/AudioSlave)

I really hope that we can finally reach a consensus that men's suicide rates are out of hand and start doing something about it.

I feel for the family and the band. I hope he found his peace.

Re: RIP Roger Moore

Everything I've ever read about Moore made him sound like a sweetheart. The only person I've ever seen him say a bad word against was his co-star in the Persuaders (still a great show). And chivalrous enough to not only support his replacement Ian Ogilvy in The Return of the Saint but when he made a...

Re: Square Enix Humble Bundle

Squeenix specializes in DLC. Other than the DXHR Director's Cut (itself a buggy mess as much as I love the game) and SupCom2 (which nobody rates highly) there's a ton of DLC for almost all those games. It's a question of trying to nickel and dime people to death more than it is one of "is the d...

I see nothing about included dlc so I can only presume this is yet another attempt to bilk the customers with inflated perceived value.

Need Advice - remote repair app needed

I've been doing a fair bit of on the phone advice to clients who have trouble implementing the changes they need to make. I need a way to remotely fix things for them that I don't have to spend many hours invested in learning how it works - and is reasonably transparent to users. Any advice would be...

Re: Can't find lossless albums online

The reason you're having a hard time is because the thieves who steal music on-line are mostly a younger generation that has no appreciation for music free of compression artifacts. People old enough to care about the quality of what they listen to have jobs and they buy their music rather than ste...

Re: RIM Comeback?

Sliders are most assuredly not good qwerty keyboards. I'm sure QNX will survive no matter what. Without a major player (or formerly major player in the case of BB) there's not a lot of reason to keep it going as a mobile os. Especially when Sailfish, Ubuntu phone and Firefox OS are right around the ...

Re: RIM Comeback?

End User takes a bizarre glee in BB's misfortune's to the point that I consistently wonder if they killed his pets and children in the middle of the night or something. Every single article he brings up has the maximum gloom and doom. If/when they go it will be a truly sad day. QNX has a lot of pote...

Re: Half Life movie?

They could just make it exactly like the game and it would still suck. You, the audience, are a mute guy that things happen to. Now that conceit could make an interesting experimental/indie film - not an explosion and alien-filled blockbuster. They'd be better off using the character from OpFor in a...

If you have to keep that computer get a PCI video card. Zotac makes a few more recent Geforce based cards. I would, however, get an extended warranty from the seller as I've found Zotac's QC to be spotty.

I'd buy a baffle first and see if that will solve your problem. Here's a range (not that I have never shopped this vendor and do not in any way endorse them or have any opinion of them- I generally buy in person) http://www.fullcompass.com/product/419581.html , http://www.fullcompass.com/product/418...

Re: Looking for a good but inexpensive mic

How much are you willing to spend? How much hassle are you willing to put up with? To me these are the most important questions. All in one mics aren't pro but if you're not getting paid, unless this is a really serious hobby for you, the idea of spending a few hundred bucks might not make sense. Yo...

I didn't like the utorrent 3.x series, 2.x is too old. Deluge I've used occasionally but the last time I used it it was extremely buggy (on Windows). Used to use Halite but it's not as aggressively developed. I just stick to Tixati now - developed by the coder of WinMX, aggressive releases and very,...

I felt the last 3 minutes of the song were good - and that the opening was self-indulgent and uninteresting (or as my friend would say the three Fs - flabby, flaccid and flatulent). Ward had a lot to do with the arrangements too and I feel like that's part of why it's hurting here. Ozzy isn't follow...

Re: What was the big deal with FEAR anyway?

@Ryhadar - Perseus Mandate is really light on the story but the gameplay and engine were at its most refined of the Fear 1 series. Not as scary but I'd say a better shooter. I liked Extraction Point because of some of the ways that it filled in backstory but I felt that they butchered the characters...

Re: RIP Roger Ebert

I'm glad we had him around. I loved his passion for film and insightful commentary even when I thought he was wrong. He, and the tv shows he did, made an impact on those that might ignore indie and other movies that weren't given all kinds of play. I'd argue that he and his co-hosts helped the rise ...

I just hope they can make it. Licensing out QNX for phones might help too. I'd hate to be stuck with the current alternatives.

The last non-BB phone I saw with a semi-decent keyboard was the Pro + and it still had only Android 2.x on it.

I'm guessing that since you didn't like Hearts of Iron you don't like super in-depth strategy games. Sins of a Solar Empire isn't that confusing to me but it does tend to take a long time (unless you're getting steamrollered). Depending on how much you like to micro your units I agree with Black App...

9.99 for the first one and the "expansions" isn't that great a deal frankly but then I got the entire franchise on Steam during the holiday sale (despite owning the original, 2 (but not the dlc) and perseus mandate and extraction point already on disk. It is a game you should play though. ...
