Re: Do 11/10nm test chips exist yet?

You posted a link yourself of an Intel 32nm SRAM chip. I doubt Intel is going to show off a working 10nm CPU until 2015, and more likely 2016. I posted a link above that at least TSMC is going 10nm and beyond. It just gets harder when things are this small. You are right but I thought that Intel's ...

Re: Do 11/10nm test chips exist yet?

If Intel has any 10 nm test chips, I'd expect them to be showed off at IDF in two weeks. Par Intel tradition, they'll show test wafers a few years before productions chips using it reach the market (2013 they were showing off 14 nm test chips). If Intel do they would probably be CPU's correct? Inte...

Do 11/10nm test chips exist yet? So any info from IDF 14?

So was there anything about the 11/10nm manufacturing process shown at IDF14 as suggested by the comments? It's just with previous process nodes there are test chips being announced years before retail chips are available and I have not heard of anything in the 11/10nm node even existing have I miss...

Re: Nintendo sells -20k Wii Us in Q2

Yeah, the Wii was a fun novelty Which is also the 2nd highest selling console of all time for hardware and software, and by FAR the most profitable. I don't understand this narrative that it was a fad. It was a legitimately strong business for five years. 2nd? PS2, DS, Gameboy and PS1 have all sold...

Which Geforce driver do i need for Batman Arkham City?

I have a GTX 670 and when I first played Arkham City with it I could play at max settings with no problems. It has how be quite a while since I last played and with both the new 327.23 driver and the previous 320.49 drivers it has been very sluggish forcing me to turn off physx and directx 11 featur...

Re: Time to buy AMD?

I know AMD has had a really bad year. But all the rumours for both the xbox720 and ps4 indicate that the hardware will be AMD 8 core cpu and an AMD gpu. I was tempted to buy AMD back when it was ~$2, but bought RIM instead (has worked out great so far...). But now I'm tempted to jump back on the AM...

Re: In the UK then 30" 2560x1600 10bit monitor for £699.95+v

This is really only a short discount on the same kind of display as HP's ZR30w and Dell's U3011. You'd have to compare quality and features to ensure that the cash you'd save (around $100-200 USD) would be worth it. I'm happy with my ZR30w personally :). HP's ZR30w is an 8bit not 10bit panel so it ...

Does anyone here know about this thing, or has done any forensics on it? Trusteer Rapport is a bit of software pushed out by banks to secure their on-line banking platforms. It claims to totally prevent trojan and man-in-the-middle attacks as well as claiming that it buries itself so far in the OS ...

Re: The $3500 USB 2.0 cable

The arrogance and cynicism of the industry is neatly capsuled by the following true story: a journalist for a leading "buff book", aware of the cost-to-retail ratio of speaker systems, queried one manufacturer why his repackaging of five hundred dollars worth of cone dynamic drivers sold f...

Well turns out you can't buy controllers separately so watch out you break the controller that's a whole new console needed.

Not for me I get through way too many controllers on my PS2 (yeah I skipped this generation).

Yeah I'd also like to know what's happening with 28nm it's been over 2 years since 40nm first appeared back in april 09. Or am I just spoiled through how quickly we went from 90nm in october 05 - 65nm in may 07 - 55nm in november 07.

10,000 write-erase cycles was for 50nm nand, 3-5,000 write-erase cycles is for 3 seperate shrinks 34nm, 25nm and 20nm and this is with MLC nand. So even if MLC becomes unfeaseble at smaller manufacturing processes SLC nand is still there and it had 100,000 write-erase cycles at 50nm even if it halve...

Re: Seagate buys Samsung HDD

Seasung? Samgate? I wonder if lack of competition will be enough to lure Fujitsu back into the desktop hard drive segment. Probably not, I imagine profit margins in that segment are fairly thin. A more likely outcome would be for Fujitsu's hard drive division to merge with Western Digital... Toshib...

SGI Indy 180MHz - conversation piece

I had to look at wikipedia to even know what this is were it mentions the following
Introduced on 12 July 1993 it was discontinued on 30 June 1997, with support to end on 31 December 2010
I can't believe something so old is still supported.
