Re: Considerably lower FPS in games than what they should be

I ran all the malware software and came up with no results. Realized my SSD was connected to the inferior Marvell controller and swapped it to the faster Intels. Going to remove the 3rd stick today and leave only two plugged in. How should I have them positioned? XXOO or XOXO? X being plugged in and...

Re: Considerably lower FPS in games than what they should be

At work at the moment, but here are some answers to some of the questions you guys have been asking: Cooler for the CPU is one of the Corsair selfcontained water units. I think it's the HD80, but can't remember from the top of my head. RAM is 3x4GB. One of my sticks died and I never bought a new one...

Re: Where are the TitanZ reviews?

It's because nVidia didn't send review samples to any of the tech websites. The few reviews you are seeing are due to the websites purchasing a Titan Z just for the review.

Re: Far Cry 4 has been confirmed!

FC2 has almost nothing in common with FC1, almost as though two completely different studios made the two games. That's because it was made by two different studios. FarCry 1 - Crytek (published by Ubi) FarCry 2, 3 - Ubisoft They owned the trademark so Crytek went on to make Crysis. The engines are...

I had the same issue with my two Dell U2410 and one 2408WFP in addition to an occasional Grey Screen of Death. After I updated to 12.8 Catalysts I don't have either issue anymore.

I had the same issue on my computer. Turned out to be faulty RAM. Take them out and replace them one at a time till it POSTs and boots.

MSI R7970 Lightning GSOD Issue

Hello everyone, I upgraded from an XFX 6970 to a MSI R7970 Lightning running at stock speeds (1070 MHz). Prior to the 7970 I had no crashing issues. Now I'll get a Grey Screen of Death about every other day. Usually it'll occur after the computer has been on standby i.e. I come home from work, wiggl...

Re: RAM Issues...apparently

Thanks for the advice everyone. The NTFS.sys BSOD does not appear anymore at all. It's MEMORY_MANAGEMENT 100% of the time now. I'm going to Memtest the RAM individually this weekend (plus I ordered more for my other build, so I'll swap em out for testing purposes). I also have another SSD, a brand n...

Re: What's the deal with video card prices?

Availability of the Radeon 7970 has taken a slump too while prices have hiked up to $500+.

Just last week the XFX Double D 7970 Black Edition was $499 and now it's $539 on Newegg. Amazon has it listed for $599. Only the few reference models are going for $479.

AMD's Three for Free offer

So AMD has launched an offer on 16 Apr, however it seems that none of the retailers I frequent are actually participating. http://www.legitreviews.com/news/12872/ With the purchase of a Radeon 7970 or 7950 a consumer is supposed to receive codes for Dirt Showdown, Deus Ex: HR and Nexuiz. Anyone know...

Re: Relatively New Build - Nothing but problems

That sounds like the motherboard is defective (assuming you tested with the IGP to rule out the video card). You should RMA the board. On it. Will report back in several weeks when I get my replacement part, if anyone cares at that point lol. Several weeks? Holly shiz! For me it took like 4-5 worki...

Just thought of something... Does your model has "MemOK!" function (or something similar), where you can load special settings for "supposedly" bad memory for BIOS (you need to press a certain button on mobo after which the mobo will load and auto-test certain "compatibilit...

Re: Relatively New Build - Nothing but problems

It's hard to try to even assume what could be wrong - could be bad mobo, bad PSU or bad RAM or any combination of these... That's why I always try to keep a "spare", perfectly working PSU at home - it helped a lot in a few situations like these. Just out of curiosity: you mentioned Marvel...

[SOLVED] Relatively New Build - Nothing but problems

Good afternoon fellow enthusiasts, I've reached somewhat of a dead end in my troubleshooting with my new build This is the 7th machine I've put together and it's the first to have this ridiculous amount of issues, apparently brought forth by multiple hardware devices. Before I get into the nitty gri...

Re: Upgrade from E8600 to i7 2600k

I already have a Corsair H80 that I'm going to use with it.

As far as video card is concerned, the most I may do in the near future is pick up another 6970 for crossfire purposes. I do dabble in 3x1 Eyfinity @ 6048x1200. Runs amazingly well in most games on a single 6970 for the record.

Thanks for the excellent advice everyone! $100 dollars don't really affect my budget so I'll go ahead and plop the extra cash on a 2600k. Upgrade from E8600 to i7 2600k

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade from my aging C2D E8600 to Sandy Bridge, whether that's a 2500k or 2600k. I'm curious to know how much of an improvement I should be getting in gaming. It certainly feels like my C2D can't keep up anymore with the demands I'm placing on it with Crysis 2, Deus Ex and BF...
