Re: End of an E®A

It's a shame, but you don't have to be smart to use technology any more, and there isn't enough demand among hobbyists for rheostats, resistors, capacitors, and diodes to keep the chain afloat (again, because tech has changed). Tech has become a commodity, so a store specializing in commodities has ...

Re: Any Spam eaters here(Yes the canned meat product)?

@whm1974, Does a bear poop in the woods? And finally a topic I can get on with. Being Chamorro, we eat a bajillon different ways. Absolutely LOVE IT. (but it bad for you.) My son loves it also! As Ned pointed out Musubi is my favorite way. Next would be Fried Rice with it. Grilled is absolutely del...

Never sell that! Unless you want to sell it to me. :)

Here's my best five shot group of the day (at 100 yards) from my Mosul-Nagano PU Sniper. It measured 0.870". Sure with a trigger job, a modern scope, and a better shooter that 1/2" groups would be the norm.

Re: STAR WARS TIME!

Ugh. I was 13 when ANH came out and, like most other males of my era, have been Star Wars fanatics. I saw this trailer and had high hopes. After the posts here about Empire , the 13-YO glee in me is gone. Thanks. For the $4 BILLION (ISTR) Disney paid for the franchise, one would think that it came ...

41 magnum is an interesting cartridge, but one you really need to handload if you're going to any serious shooting and/or want to get the most from it.

Re: Micro PC - Zotac Z Box

The box is up and running. Windows 7 installation was a bit of a pain, as I initially had no keyboard and mouse support and the installation program and couldn't proceed. But once I slipstreamed in the USB 3.0 drivers from Intel, everything went fine. Now to update to Windows 10, and then do a fresh...

Now that might be the first Linux distribution that interests me. Hmm. Struck out on the NES Classic too? I think everybody did! Nintendo only made six of them, it seems. Honestly I find myself revisiting many Atari 2600 games more than NES or even Genesis. I have a couple of the Atari flashback ma...

Re: Micro PC - Zotac Z Box

If the bios has an option to disable USB3 you might not even need to bother with the slipstream.  If the zbox behaves anything like the NUC, then installing an OS from a USB drive is usually pretty straightforward. There's a legacy bios setting, but there's also a couple of USB 2.0 slots. Interesti...

Micro PC - Zotac Z Box

I just bought this little guy. The intent is to use it for emulation of old console games (mostly Atari and Sega), and perhaps some music/photo storage. I'll be connecting it to a 55" 1080p TV in the man room. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856173128 I've got some RAM lay...

Indeed. The astronauts of NASA were the heroes of my childhood. Unlike many of my peers, I was never much into comic books -- who needed comic book heroes, when there were real-life heroes you could read about? I know JBI gets it, but for the younger gerbils just go look at a Mercury "spacecra...

Re: Gun prOn!

That's pretty neat that you have a piece of family history. If you plan to shoot it, I would have a gunsmith check the headspace first. To preserve it I would disassemble it, give it a good cleaning, run an oil soaked patch down the bore, and then put a coat of paste wax on the metal. I like store m...

Re: Gun prOn!

makes me debate between holding out for a GP 100 and one of the taurus 357's.   I've wanted a 6" barrel 357 for ages now, but damn, the rugers are like 600+ I think Ruger makes the better .357. Taurus' .357s aren't built on as beefy a frame as the GP 100. Not to say they are bad, but the GP 10...
