I can't wait till someone figures out how to convert the upcoming consoles like the Xbox One X to do Etherium mining. :)

Re: StarCraft: Remastered

I don't know that I'll pick up the HD version when it ships since I've already got the original and played through it a few times. I'm not nearly good enough to play MP in either Starcraft 1 or 2, but I think it is great they've maintained the same rules and quirks with the updated version.

Re: Are you buying a RX 480?

I was seriously thinking about getting a RX 480 but then I got a great deal on a R9 390 (thanks) and so I'm happy with what I have now. If I didn't get the 390 then I would have wait for an AIB custom RX 480 card. While the urge to buy a reference card would be hard to resist I always knew the AIB c...

Re: NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN P

How many of you listened to Raja Koduri's talk with Ryan Shrout of PC Perspective about AMD and RTG's future? In that he spells out that he knows that AMD is behind and Polaris isn't going to fix things. He says that Polaris is the first step on what will likely take a few years to finish to make th...

One thing I don't see being mentioned is upgrade potential. The OP's system may only use 180 Watts today but what about next year or the year after. You need to leave some room for upgrading the system down the road unless you are sure that you will not be upgrading it in the future. I know that I b...

It's my first playthrough. Been through BL2 multiple times and the same with BL:TPS. As I said Neutronbeam has been through it multiple times. Currently I'm lvl 22 so we have a ways to go. LOL. I can see why you got rid of the motar rocket as I always hated those Thingys in BL:TPS since it's hard to...

Re: RX 480 reference cooler dismantled.

It's not a horrible cooler since the RX 480 seems to be around 100Watts in actual power usage at stock clocks based on various reports. The AIB cards will be the ones to push that 150W TDP or move to a 8Pin or 6+8Pin connection to let them support massive overclocks. (If the GPU will support it with...

So how does a Siren take him down solo? I am working on a play through with Neutronbeam and we may get there eventually. Since I'm playing a Siren knowing any tricks might come in handy. Even though Neutronbeam has played through BL1 many times I don't think he ever managed to take out Crawermax.. P...

Re: Anyone on TR watch Person of Interest?

It's probably one of those shows that the network doesn't own. Network studio owned/produced shows get treated fairly well but for non-network owned shows the ratings are key. Once they drop below a certain threshold all bets are off as to what they do with the show even if the ratings aren't so bad...

Re: The only i7 6950X review that gets it...

A compiling time benchmark is relevant to people that develop software for a living or hobby. For instance if you were working on a custom RedHat based distro, last time I checked the source code weighed in at about 26GB and to build RedHat from source took days. There was a time I was working on a...

Ryu, no one is talking about that for the same reason we don't bother talking about crying babies. It's really not worth our time. He comes off as hurt because AMD doesn't love him any more which makes what he says suspect. Also if you carefully read through it he isn't saying anything new. Just put...

Re: I just watched the Polaris "Update" Live

I think AMD is getting ahead of any possible 1070 rush by talking about the RX 480 at $200. It should make anyone that isn't a diehard Nvidia fan pause and wonder whether buying a 1070 this month is the right move, or perhaps it's better to wait a few weeks and see what happens. As for the price ran...

Jeff's had one in the lab since the 17th at least. In saying that, I'd expect the TR review to be far more than just benchmarks like all the premature reviews around the web. Even Ryan at AT only released benchmarks, stating that the full review is to come. What matters is that the first GTX 1080 d...

If you've gotten use out of the card and are happy with the 970 then just be happy. There's always something new coming along that is better than what you have, but if what you have works for you then why not just be happy with it. If you aren't happy with the GTX 970 for some reason (or just want t...

If you can wait and don't mind paying a price premium then certainly waiting is the best option at this point as the 480/480x/490/490x should be all be here by August and some should be on sale in June. Those may cost more than there 380(x)/390(x) versions but the power savings and performance boost...

The rumors that I've read are that both Polaris 10 and 11 will be launched at Computex so there will be a complete line of replacement products from the 470 to at least the 490x level. We will know if any of the Pascal/Polaris rumors are true in just a couple of months.

I remember seeing the competitors on TOP SHOT try to use the Atlatl in one of their competitions. It worked well but seemed to be useful for only certain situations. Certainly the bow had the potential even in early days to deliver more power and hence work over greater distances than the Atlatl. It...

Re: Nvidia Pascal the holy trifecta?

It's unclear to me how much Nvidia has done in regards to supporting asynch compute in Pascal. Whether they provide great asynch compute support in Pascal or not I think we can rule out many games pushing that feature since the existing Nvidia hardware can't use it. So you'll see the occasional game...

Re: Nvidia Pascal the holy trifecta?

I agree with you, Airmantharp. I wasn't aware that GDDR5X could supply similar bandwidth to HBM1 at a similar cost when I wrote that. Given that info the only reasons to move to HBM1 are for the space savings and the potential power savings. Both are nice but if GDDR5X can be easily used in place of...

Re: Nvidia Pascal the holy trifecta?

I don't think we are going to see a flagship card from Nvidia using HBM1 but I see no reason why Nvidia wouldn't use HBM1 for lesser cards. After all 4GB of HBM1 for a 970 replacement GPU seems perfectly reasonable. Though the real question is how does the performance/cost of GDDR5X compare to HBM1?...

Re: Nvidia Pascal the holy trifecta?

I think we won't see any GPUs using HBM2 this year. Samsung may have started production of HBM2 in January but they've been clear that the allocation is for specific industries and I'm sure they made AMD and Nvidia aware of that last year so that they could adjust their plans. Now it's possible we w...

I don't know what AMD is doing now with their drivers but notice with Nvidia that they keep a copy of each driver version as you upgrade in the default location, "C:/Nvidia/DisplayDriver" for me. That can easily add up if you don't periodically remove the older drivers.

Those requirements seem a bit too steep even for a 4K render. 16GB of system RAM and 6GB of VRAM? So anyone with a 4GB card is not going to be able to max out the graphics? That shouldn't be the case unless they are being inefficient given what I've seen of the game compared to the graphical quality...

All that I got out of the article is what I already suspected. AMD will likely have at least one new 14/16NM GPU on the market by June. Nvidia will be a few months later. That's to be expected since AMD has already been able to show us working silicon while Nvidia hasn't. It's also not a surprise si...
