I actually run a Neato Botvac D80. I haven't bought a Roomba for a long time, since the 500 series.

You can check out my "review" of robo vacs right here on TR.

Re: Online Journalism - Where's the editor?

That's a strange coincidence for a story to tell and for me to notice. Less than an hour ago, we had a testing device break and a bolt head went missing. I've quarantined the product that was made before the break down so it won't ship until someone finds the bolt head in one of the boxes that passe...

Re: Neato XV-21 for $275 (on NewEgg)!

It should be just fine on hardwood. I have read some horror stories about scratches though, so you may want to test it on a small out of the way area first. I've run mine on both cheap and high-quality laminate flooring without issue, but never on actual hardwood. I assume it will come down to the q...

Re: Windows 10 Mobile officially dead

Holy crap . I might have to get one of these if they come back in stock. I hope you WP enthusiasts get you what you want, but that article again highlights how badly MS borked Windows Phone. They didn't even include CDMA support in Windows 10 Mobile? Really? That's roughly half of all US mobile sub...

Re: Windows 10 Mobile officially dead

That was and always will be my beef with it. Fair enough. I guess I filed that under, "that's annoying" instead of "I will hate this OS forever" though. I think Win8/8.1/10 got a bit of a free pass from me just for cleaning up the pain that applying years of Windows Updates to W...

Re: Windows 10 Mobile officially dead

I still don't understand the hate for Win8/8.1. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have Win10 instead, but who spends enough time in the start menu that it mattered? It's not like there wasn't a normal taskbar and desktop. Since Win7, my start menu access has looked like this, hit Windows key -> type ...

Re: Remote app shot in the dark question

Remote app launches a "boarder less" RDP window of just the application without the normal RDP minimize/close/maximize button control. If you minimize the remote app, it goes to the thin client's taskbar and otherwise acts as if the application is running natively on the thin client. That...

Re: Remote app shot in the dark question

Fair questions. I was looking at some 3rd party programs and GP stuff that might help, but none of it was 100% right. There's a lot more stuff about stopping people from closing the program (which doesn't cause me problems) than stopping minimizing it. The software itself has no form of full screen ...

Remote app shot in the dark question

We recently switched from an ancient VMWare View implementation that gave our shop floor access to a piece of software to a more modern Server 2016 powered RDP/remote app version (running the same acient software). We replaced all of our old thin clients with new ones (HP t420) and, generally speaki...

Re: Best motherboard for Netburst CPU?

Seems like a good thread to tell my tale. I built a system for work about 12 years ago as a backup for what was already an odd computer. We have a machine than has ISA controller boards and we still use it to this day (we used to have two of them but we finally replaced one). Anyway, the PC powering...

Re: Eclipse on August 21

The 2024 eclipse is my backup plan if things go south, uh, going south. I'm hoping that my plan/route will work out though. I'm so anxious about getting on the road. I should be more worried about cloud cover than traffic, but traffic is my biggest concern.

Re: Eclipse on August 21

I have an epic road trip planned, depending on traffic, it should be 20-72 hours of driving. ;) My passengers are planning to play DnD for most of the drive, since we've done that in 12-hour sessions before anyway. I'm packing other distractions though. I'm hoping traffic will be manageable, we're n...
