Re: Need router advice

The TP-Link is fine for a consumer router. I have one and it does the job (older Archer C7.) I've also perused the TP-Link website and it's easy enough to navigate (includes a router emulator.) However, I haven't tested their customer service. If you want to you can find out what chipset it is based...

LOL, They cancelled you to milk more money out of you. You have no power in this situation. Just suck it up and pay up or take the lesser services. I mean, we can have a deep and meaningful political conversation about how this is messed up, but that will get us nowhere until we start by burning eve...

Get a cheap SSD. I have an old high end SSD that's nearly half as fast as a new cheap SSD, and it's way better than HDD.

I have to rely on Gigabyte's utility to control fan speeds for a Gigabyte video card. Maybe it will work for you too?

Re: Which Headset Should I Get: DXL1 or Fatal1ty

I get headsets with the largest drivers (50mm) for the cheapest price.

Edit: Wireless is real nice (recommended too,) but you usually get 20mm drivers. Logitech has a wireless headset with 50mm drivers, but it is pricey.

There may be a channel setting on the router. Try different channels.

A good rule of thumb is not to rely on automatic settings for anything. However, I still do. I actually only fiddle with manual settings if there are problems.

You can fiddle with the settings and pray you get it working, but I think overall it's "incompatible." In this day and age that should be extremely rare. So, sorry to hear of your bad luck.

Re: Sapphire R9 290 & 650w PS?

I'm a little surprised a beastly power supply of at least 750 Watts is required. I'm running an HD7870 on a mere 480 Watt one that is 10 years or so old. AMD platform, so I can get away with using a real old PSU.

As pointed out alcohol mixes with water and thermal paste is oil based. So, I use 20 year old lighter fluid (It's what's sitting on the shelf) dabbed onto a paper towel to clean with.

Re: Sound Blaster Recon3D PCIe

I have the SB Recon3D PCIe. The chip is PCIe native and the drivers that go with that. Now, I don't know how much weight can be put into that because if I fire up a game before opening the control panel it takes 15 minutes or so to open and I've observed this behavior before on older equipment. I've...

Packet sniffing would be the most truthful way to determine what is happening but a quick and easy way (if they respond) to discover the purpose would be to e-mail TP-Link. Disclaimer: I have that same router. Bonus Edit: TP-Link has an emulator here if you want to give this router a whirl. Bonus Ed...

It won't boot at power on, lock up hard or only during intensive activity. You'll now. Electrically should be harmless.

Another Edit: Looked at my Gigabyte mainboard manual and it only warns to have the power shut off during installation and use the correct DIMMs.

Sometimes it creates a compatibility issue but it really should not. I'm sure you've heard the refrain, "Swap them around in the slots and see if it works?"

Two dissimilar metals sets up a weak current that oxidizes metals. You need distilled water because without minerals water doesn't carry an electrical current. You also want antifreeze for the additives that impede corrosion because distilled water is not perfectly mineral free. But antifreeze does ...
