Re: Microphone question

OK, talk to me like an idiot, because I am. I see the 4 mic-in ports, got that part. How can I link this board to my main board? It has mic in ports, would I need an adapter to connect the line out on this to the mic in on the main board? Sorry for being a moron. Have the mic preamp sum to m...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Once we reenact the requested scene from Sis Of Fish, it will all become clear.

I never did the prog/jazz/fusion thing (well, like any decent late '70s kid, I did like Chuck Mangione), but some of the most treasured vinyl in my collection is the first three Nektar albums.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

[FWIW I have the MFSL vinyl of Crime of the Century ... (speaking of "maybe worth something someday") I have a UHQR of "I Robot". The cats have killed the case, but the vinyl is pristine and has been played 3 times or so. There's at least one MFSL in there as well, but I'd have ...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

In my Uni days I had 3 comfort albums. "Crime of the Century", "Foxtrot", and "Fragile".

I didn't realize the quality of the headphones (Yamaha HP-1, planar magnetic circa 1981) Dad bought me before uni until many years after school. One of many points I missed.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

JC Superstar was indeed in fairly heavy rotation for a while as well; should've probably grabbed the original vinyl when I ran across it when we were cleaning out Dad's house a couple of years ago. I'm sure it was worn all to hell, but in retrospect I wouldn't mind having it for nostalgic value. Th...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

My intro to prog rock came about in a similarly odd way (and at a similar age). Mom picked up ITCOTKC and listened to it obsessively for several months. That album is one of my indelibly etched childhood memories. That was one of my first in my freshman year ('cause there was no chance of hearing t...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

No, I haven't lost my mind. Well, at least for now. Sorry for any misdirection. DP (and the eternal spinoffs) was as far as I ever got into Brit Metal. I, as a new college senior in the fall of 1984, found it amusing and satisfying that a band I'd spun many times found themselves in, of all places, ...

Brit metal? The album was recorded in Stowe, VT and it was the reunion of the five original members. Huge MTV hit in 1984 or so. Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers . I know most of those locations. Even the JP and IM lovers in the fraternity house liked this album. That said, I think Ian Gillian's best...

Re: How secure is Android ecosystem for data & privacy security?

Users have root by default on PCs. If it's alright there, it should be alright on phones. Again, these days home PC users tend to be the self-selected gerbils. Work PC users can't get root on their AD-driven work PC (unless they are a cunning gerbil 8) ) so they consider their phone the PC/comms/ga...

Re: How secure is Android ecosystem for data & privacy security?

What I don't get is why the world is so alright with people not properly owning their devices. Because 99.99% of the world's population can't be trusted with root, and about 50%-75% of those who know how to root shouldn't be trusted with root. Don't take the conversation here and extrapolate to the...

It's threads like these, which has become a Net-wide resource to fix common problems, that proves the utility of the forum concept.

From my experience, you were born a hop-head or not. It's REALLY hard to make the transition. I've been working with SWMBO for 30 years now and have never got her over the hump. If you happen to have a chance to eat in a place that does craft beers and lists them on a chalkboard, see if their beer m...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

As an IPA-loving hop-head, I (and a whole lot of other craft beer lovers) am partially to blame for this situation. I'm not sure if anyone in VT even offers a craft-brewed lager. They're harder to brew properly and take longer to mature, so they're always going to be a small part of the market anywa...

The thought of trying to ride from home to BBQ and back already has my back hurting ala Harry Reddington (a/k/a Hairy Red) from Footfall . I'd be lucky to survive a 50 mile ride on the most recliner-like Hog, let alone a 2,000 mile round trip. As it is, even with the quite comfortable (to me) seat i...
